Tea Party Troy Mayor Janice Daniels’ recall is certified

Tea Party Troy Mayor Janice Daniels’ recall is certified

Facing the music

Despite two absurd attempts to have petition signatures thrown out, Tea party Troy Mayor Janice Daniels will officially face a recall in November.

Daniels, shown right with deejay Thayrone “your audio g-spot will now be massaged by the mink glove of soul” X, challenged the petitions based on corrections not being initialed by the circulator (not required) and because signers didn’t include their zip code (also not required.)

Day 2 – Third quarter fundraiser

Day 2 – Third quarter fundraiser

Baby needs a new web server

So, yesterday, LOLGOP broke the internet. More accurately, he generated so much traffic at Eclectablog with his piece “Your Affordable Care Act Rebate Can Save Lives” that he overloaded the servers at our web hosting company and they shut us down for several hours. So, we need to upgrade and it’s going to cost about $600 per year to do that.

That’s the kind of thing we’re asking you for donations for: to keep Eclectablog humming along flawlessly, even when one of our posts hits the front page of Reddit and is getting nearly 500 hits per minute (I’m not kidding.)

You can make a donation using the oh-so-easy-to-use Paypal link after the jump.

Support your local bloggers

It’s that time of the year again where we come to you, tip jar in hand, and ask you to support what we do here at Eclectablog. As most of you know, this is not a full-time gig for me, Anne and LOLGOP. It doesn’t even come close to paying the bills. We do these fundraisers to help offset our costs for equipment, travel, and fees for various things we do. In exchange, we bring you regularly updated content, insightful commentary, liveblogging, exclusive reporting and magnificent photography.

If you’d like to say “thank you” and help keep us doing what we’re doing, you can do so after the jump.

#retroactively is the new Etch-A-Sketch – the Romney campaign takes flip-flopping to a new place

#retroactively is the new Etch-A-Sketch – the Romney campaign takes flip-flopping to a new place

I will gladly change my position Tuesday on an opinion I have today

Back in March, Romney adviser Eric Fehrnstrom made it clear that Mitt Romney was willing to reset his position at any given time, just like shaking an Etch-A-Sketch.

Over the weekend, another Romney adviser made it even more clear that this concept also goes for anything at all that Mitt Romney has ever done, including when he retired from Bain Capital.

Americans for Prosperity hosts fake grassroots rally with Sarah Palin, pretends to be “non-political” – PHOTOS

Americans for Prosperity hosts fake grassroots rally with Sarah Palin, pretends to be “non-political” – PHOTOS

So much anger, so much hate, so much astroturf

Yesterday, Americans For Prosperity held a fake grassroots rally in Belleville, Michigan near the Detroit Metro Airport. Around 400-500 tea party supporters and Sarah Palin fanatics showed up to bake in the hot sun to witness an event, dubbed “Kochstock” by LOLGOP, bought and paid for by the conservative group that bills itself as a non-political 501(c)(4) nonprofit group. This nonprofit status allows them to hide their donors and to sponsor these types of events around the country as long as they don’t support a candidate.

The result was a several-hour long anti-Obama, anti-Democrat hatefest where not a single Republican candidate got mentioned.

Sickening: Obama staffer dies tragically in Chicago OFA office, right wingers dance on his grave (Updated)

Sickening: Obama staffer dies tragically in Chicago OFA office, right wingers dance on his grave (Updated)

These people are sick and depraved

29-year old Alex Okrent collapsed in a Chicago OFA office yesterday and died. Yahoo has the story HERE.

What is taking place in the comments section of that story is enough to make you vomit. Some people are even insinuating that he was killed by the Obama campaign.

I’ll warn you that some of the comments (after the jump) are beyond the pale and extremely offensive.

New Obama ad “Firms” shows just how un-American Mitt Romney has acted

New Obama ad “Firms” shows just how un-American Mitt Romney has acted

You have a strange way of showing your patriotism, Mitt

The Obama campaign has a killer new ad out today that will be running in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It’s called “Firms” and highlights just how un-American Mitt Romney has behaved as Governor and as the head of Bain Capital.

Watch it after the jump (with bonus tweet that you won’t want to miss.)

President Obama: Mitt Romney “absolutely” should answer whether or not he was responsible for what happened at Bain Capital

President Obama: Mitt Romney “absolutely” should answer whether or not he was responsible for what happened at Bain Capital

“Harry Truman said the buck stops with you…”

President Obama sat down with Scott Thuman of
WJLA ABC7 in Washington, D.C. for an interview. During that interview, he was asked about Mitt Romney’s Baingate issue. The president again spelled out why it’s relevant and said Romney has questions to answer about whether or not, as chairman, CEO, and president of Bain Capital, he is actually responsible for what that company did.

“Get on the Bus” with University of Michigan regent candidate Mark Bernstein

“Get on the Bus” with University of Michigan regent candidate Mark Bernstein

Get on the Bus!

In March of this year, Mark Bernstein, candidate for regent of the University of Michigan, was endorsed by the Michigan Democratic Party at their 2012 Endorsement Convention. I have met and talked at length with Mark and I’m thrilled that he’s our candidate this year. He’s a solid progressive with a big heart and a strong interest in helping keep college costs down for Michigan students.

Mark’s team recently purchased a 20-year old school bus from the South Redford Public School District, painted it up with his campaign logo & graphics and set out on a statewide “Make College Affordable Tour”. After the jump is a video his team put together about the process and about Mark’s tour, an Eclectablog exclusive!

Obama campaign continues to hammer Romney on Bain Capital, Bill Clinton weighs in – VIDEOS

This won’t go away soon…

The Obama campaign is continuing to hammer away at Mitt Romney’s apparent lies about his tenure at Bain Capital. To recap, the crux of their argument is that he either lied on his SEC filings or he’s lying to the American voters now.

They released two new ads today which will be rolling out soon.

Those videos and interviews with President Obama and Clinton after the jump.
