This is the type of mindless ignorance we’re up against in this year’s election

Too stupid to vote???

Despite the fact that most Americans want Republicans to move on (pdf) and quit fighting a battle they’ve already lost, House Republicans spent the day debating the repeal the Affordable Care Act, a waste of time and taxpayer money given that it’ll never get out of the Senate much less be signed into law by President Obama. The vote tomorrow will be 31st time they’ve done this. In light of that, it’s worth having a look at what Obama-haters in the hinterlands are saying and thinking.

I was perusing the Letters to the Editor page at the Livingston County Press and Argus today and came across this letter, written by a person so detached from facts and reality that it’s almost insulting that they printed it.

This letter shows just exactly what we’re up against heading into the November election.

Mitt Romney thinks people in the middle class make over $250,000 a year

Mitt Romney thinks people in the middle class make over $250,000 a year

Can you say “out of touch”? I knew you could.

The Obama campaign has been hammering hard on Mitt Romney’s offshore bank accounts and his absurdly low tax rate and his car elevators and all of the trappings that make him a 0.1 percenter. I’m glad. It’s important that Americans know that Mitt is not a “regular guy”. He’s a massively wealthy millionaire that has always lived a privileged life.

He’s not one of “us”.

But there’s an easier way to learn about how out of touch Mitt Romney is: listen to Mitt Romney.

Bain Capital-owned Domino’s Pizza makes a hah-hah rape joke with its new “NO IS THE NEW YES” campaign

Seriously? Don’t you have any women on your marketing team?

I was with a group of people who ordered Domino’s Pizza this past weekend. When the pizzas came, some of them, called “Artisanal Pizzas” came in this box in box with the phrase “NO IS THE NEW YES” in large font across the top. Almost everyone in the room of about a dozen people collectively went “WTF?”

Wisconsin Senator introduced bill classifying single parenting as “child abuse”

You think the War on Women isn’t real or doesn’t affect you? Think again.

Wisconsin Republican Senator Glenn Grothman has completely gone off the rails in the GOP’s War On Women. Back in March, he introduced legislation that classifies single parents and other non-married couples as contributing to child abuse.

Must-see Obama campaign video portrays Romney as the Gordon Gekko he is

Must-see Obama campaign video portrays Romney as the Gordon Gekko he is

Romney’s would be an historic presidency — for all the wrong reasons

Relevations this past week that Mitt Romney is very likely a tax cheat are making major waves. The Obama campaign is, of course, using this to their best advantage.

Today they released an online video by Obama campaign National Press Secretaey Ben LaBolt that, in plain, easy-to-digest language, eviscerates Romney for his hiding of income in offshore accounts in well-known tax havens like Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

Michigan GOP Senate primary gets fun. Glenn accuses Hoekstra of hiring felon to collect signatures.

Bring the popcorn!

While Pete Hoekstra’s Senate campaign staggers around from self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the feet, his primary contenders aren’t holding back on him, either.

One of them, Gary Glenn, tea partier extraordinaire, is accusing Hoekstra of having hired a convicted felon to collect signatures to put him on the ballot.

Freedom isn’t free, Mitt. So, pay your damned taxes!

Obama administration challenging unfair Chinese duties on American-made automobiles

Obama administration challenging unfair Chinese duties on American-made automobiles

Leveling the playing field for American workers

In 2009, the Obama administration imposed harsh tariffs on tires imported from China. This move, called a “safeguard provision”, is allowed under a 2000 law. China agreed to the provision when it negotiated its membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO). The provision allows such tariffs to be imposed when a surge in imports into the U.S. damages our industries.

China retaliated by placing antidumping and countervailing duties on imports of American-produced automobiles in 2011. This week, the U.S. government filed a challenge with WTO, saying these duties are based on phony allegations.
