Day Five: Third Quarter Fundraiser — We Need Your Support

Why does the 2012 election matter so much that I even find myself dreaming about the upcoming debates? I have a firm belief that we’re all in this together. By “we,” I mean all who choose to participate in this great American experiment. Every day I wonder: Will we lose incredible progress we’ve made in the last three years? Will […]

Day Four – Third Quarter fundraiser

Imagine…

Hello, folks. Thanks to everyone who has contributed so far. As I mentioned on Tuesday, we’re having to upgrade to a more robust web host/server and that takes money so your contributions are very much appreciated.

My guess is that, if you’re looking news and commentary on what’s going on in Michigan, Eclectablog is one of your first stops.

Imagine if Eclectablog were to go away. Think of the events that you wouldn’t find out about because, frankly, our mainstream media in this state is a bit of shambles. Think about missing the voice of LOLGOP and his perfect framing of the political messages of our day. Think about missing Anne’s fabulous photographs of people, places and things.

Then ask yourself what value that has for you and make a contribution after the jump to keep the lights on and the politics flowing at Eclectablog.

Day Three – Third Quarter fundraiser – “We’re going to the Democratic National Convention” edition

Charlotte, here we come!

First, a big thanks to those of you who have already contributed to Eclectablog during this round of fundraising. I realize times are tough for most of us so it’s gratifying to see people contributing to something they believe in.

If you haven’t made a contribution yet, you can do so after the jump.

Baby needs a new web server

So, yesterday, LOLGOP broke the internet. More accurately, he generated so much traffic at Eclectablog with his piece “Your Affordable Care Act Rebate Can Save Lives” that he overloaded the servers at our web hosting company and they shut us down for several hours. So, we need to upgrade and it’s going to cost about $600 per year to do that.

That’s the kind of thing we’re asking you for donations for: to keep Eclectablog humming along flawlessly, even when one of our posts hits the front page of Reddit and is getting nearly 500 hits per minute (I’m not kidding.)

You can make a donation using the oh-so-easy-to-use Paypal link after the jump.

Support your local bloggers

It’s that time of the year again where we come to you, tip jar in hand, and ask you to support what we do here at Eclectablog. As most of you know, this is not a full-time gig for me, Anne and LOLGOP. It doesn’t even come close to paying the bills. We do these fundraisers to help offset our costs for equipment, travel, and fees for various things we do. In exchange, we bring you regularly updated content, insightful commentary, liveblogging, exclusive reporting and magnificent photography.

If you’d like to say “thank you” and help keep us doing what we’re doing, you can do so after the jump.

Wayback Machine: the genesis of the Eclectablog & LOLGOP partnership

Ahhh…so that’s how it all got started Long ago (August of last year) in a galaxy far, far away (here in Ann Arbor, Michigan), I wrote a piece for another website that has since gone down the memory hole. In that piece, I interviewed a rising twitter sensation that went by the name of Pete Nicely or LOLGOP. That interview […]

Netroots Nation 2012 recap

Netroots Nation 2012 recap

Whew! That was intense!

28 hours of driving and over four days of intense networking and progressive liberal immersion later, I’m finally catching my breath from Netroots Nation 2012. This year my wife and blogging partner Anne joined me and was a staff photographer for the event. She took over 5,000 photos and we’ll have photoblogs rolling out over the next few days.

Some of the highlights for me after the jump.
