Trump’s Golden Goose Egg –> Killing the fastest growing energy sector: renewable energy

Yesterday the Trump administration put out a press release titled “President Donald J. Trump Unleashes America’s Energy Potential”. In it, the release describes how Trump has done this: Withdrawing from the Paris Climate Accord Rescinding the Obama Administration’s Clean Power Plan Fast-tracking approval of the Keystone XL Pipeline Ending the Obama Administration’s coal leasing moratorium on Federal land Rescinding the […]

Republican spending bill passed this month equates the burning of wood with solar and wind energy sources

One small section of a 798-page bill titled the “Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2017” was clearly written by lobbyists for the forest products industry. Buried on page 366 is this statement: To support the key role that forests in the United States can play in addressing the energy needs of the United States, the Secretary of Energy, the Secretary of Agriculture, […]

Wind energy passed hydroelectric in 2016, became the 4th largest source of U.S. electricity, employs over 100K workers

While the world was reeling and dealing with the outcome of the November 2016, an election won by a man who claims to value jobs over the environment and the climate, wind energy was quietly sneaking into fourth place as the source of electricity in America. In 2016, for the first time, wind energy became the leading source of renewable […]

GUEST POST: An update on the Veterans Green Village project in Detroit

GUEST POST: An update on the Veterans Green Village project in Detroit

Last October, I wrote about an exciting new project in Detroit called the Veterans Green Village to bring green energy projects to the city and put military veterans to work. I have stayed in contact with Gordon Soderberg (pictured right) who heads up the project. His group has teamed up with the Motor City Blight Busters of Detroit to create […]

EVENT/INTERVIEW: Veterans Green Bus is in Detroit to teach vets sustainable energy skills and so, SO much more

“What I learned from my military experience is that…there’s no way this is sustainable and there’s gonna be one day when we go back and die for this stuff.” I meet a lot of really terrific people in my travels but Gordon Soderberg is one of he most selfless, compassionate men I’ve met in a very long time. He has […]

UPDATED: New Michigan Republican legislation would prohibit wind farms on the Great Lakes

UPDATED: New Michigan Republican legislation would prohibit wind farms on the Great Lakes

Who knew we had six wind energy scientists in the state legislature? Six Michigan Republicans have decided that Michigan shall not have wind energy installations on the Great Lakes. Why? Not, supposedly, because they are against renewable, clean wind energy. No, it’s because they have decided that (a) it’s not feasible and (b) we should never conduct studies to determine […]

Wind makes a surprise appearance during Romney’s energy policy presentation

Wind makes a surprise appearance during Romney’s energy policy presentation

Hello, Mitt? God here. I have a message for you…

Mitt Romney unveiled his Drill Here, Drill Now fantasy of an “energy policy” yesterday and the wind made a surprise appeance. Not IN his presentation but nearly blowing DOWN his presentation.

“I have a chart that still, despite the wind, is still holding up up here,” Romney said, showing his giant chart. “These guys have held it up with about every piece of weight you can think of…”

Romney promises the USA will be magically energy independent by 2021

Romney promises the USA will be magically energy independent by 2021

You wanna schplain that one to us, Mitt?

Mitt Romney made an astonishing promise today: he told a crowd of coal miners that he will have the USA energy independent from sources outside North America by 2021.

It’s particularly astonishing given that he is against subsidizing renewable energy sources.

So, how is he going to get us off foreign energy sources? That’s a fine question and one that Romney hasn’t really answered.

This, of course, surprises exactly nobody.

Much more after the jump.

Obama administration announces Great Lakes offshore wind consortium

Obama administration announces Great Lakes offshore wind consortium

This will blow your mind…err…wind turbine

In an effort to jump start a recently-announced $180 million initiative to spur the development of offshore wind energy projects, the Obama administration and the Department of Energy today announced the formation of 5-state, 15-agency consortium in the Great Lakes region to cut through red tape and shorten the licensing period for new offshore developments. (I have written about the various types of offshore wind turbines HERE.)

More after the jump…
