Just in case you thought the Detroit Institute of Arts’s priceless collection was safe, it’s not. Appraisers have arrived.

This is unreal

“This is unprecedented in my experience,” he said. “It seems reckless to even consider liquidating these public assets.”

That’s Maxwell Anderson, director of the Dallas Museum of Art, one of the country’s most highly regarded museum directors talking about the sale of the Detroit Institute of Arts’ priceless art collection. Despite the fact that many people thought even contemplating liquidating their collection to pay Detroit’s creditors, many of whom are banks, the opposite is actually true.

The GOP asks us to “Tell us what you REALLY think about Obamacare”. I did. You should, too.

That was fun!

So, early today I received an email from the Republican National Committee titled “Tell us what you think about Obamacare”. In it was a link to a short survey. I clicked through and took their survey.

You should, too!

My answers and a link to the survey await you after the jump.

Michigan Senator Rick Jones demonstrates blatant hypocrisy in favor of Big Oil

The GOPocrisy, it burns Back in 2011 when subsidies for the filmmaking industry in Michigan were being debated, state Senator Rick Jones said, “The government is not qualified to pick winners and losers. That’s a case of the government being short-sighted.” Pretty standard, boilerplate rhetoric from so-call small-government Republicans. They hate subsidizing industries with tax payer money. Until they don’t. […]

Organizing for Michigan for the 2014 elections has already begun in Washtenaw County

Don’t stop believin’… Back in February, I penned an essay titled Why I, as a dedicated and stalwart supporter of OFA, am asking you NOT to work with OFA in Michigan. In it, I implored Michigan Democratic activists to focus their attention solely on the task at hand: defeating Michigan Republicans at every juncture. It’s not going to be easy. […]

Last day – Third Quarter fundraiser – We’re all in this together

Last day – Third Quarter fundraiser – We’re all in this together

Over the past six months, the pervasive power of corporatists in our society has really hit home for me. Corporate interests have so much money, so many resources, and have created such an effective network to put their personal, self-serving, profit-maximizing stamp on our policies and laws that the rest of us seem, at times, to have little if any […]
