Hope is cute, words are nice, action is required: The many facets of resistance and getting in the way

by

I’ll be blunt: we live in a time where the moral imperative is that we resist the decline of our country toward fascism with everything we have. It’s no longer enough to talk about politics over beers or coffee with our pals. It’s no longer enough to post fun memes on Facebook. The time is at hand for actual action.

Resistance takes many forms but it is, at its core, just what Congressman Dan Kildee said in our interview with him last weekend: Getting in the way.

Resistance needs to come from a place of knowledge to be most effective and that’s where sites like Eclectablog come in. We keep you informed with information that you need to fight back. To resist. To get in the way. So, in addition to carrying signs at protests and calling your member of Congress and working with others in your community to fight back, one way to resist is to support sites like Eclectablog.

And we NEED your support. We don’t run ads and we don’t have corporate benefactors (sorry, conservatives, George Soros isn’t as pervasive as you might think.) What we have is a community of supporters who think this site is worth supporting and that the writers here deserve to be compensated for their amazing work. Hopefully YOU are among those people who feel this way.

If you are able to help support us financially, we would be most grateful. There are two ways to help. First, you can use the handy PayPal forms at the top of the right sidebar to make a one-time donation via Paypal in the amount of your choice or to set up a monthly donation. Second, you can send a check (which avoids Paypal taking out a percentage of your donation) to Chris Savage, P.O. Box 32, Dexter, MI 48130. Please make the check payable to “Eclectablog”.

Alternatively, consider becoming a sponsor of our upcoming annual fundraising party (and live recording of the podcast!) You can learn more about how to do that HERE. This option is available to both individuals and organizations.

Your support of Eclectablog is an important way to support independent journalism and to ensure our continued growth and impact.

Thanks for being part of our community.
