Public Act 4 — July 22, 2011 at 3:06 pm

SAVE THE DATE: Townhall on repeal of Emergency Mgr Law next Monday in Ypsilanti

In case you missed the first Repeal P.A. 4 townhall in Ann Arbor, there is a second one this Monday night in Ypsilanti, Michigan.

Date: Monday, July 25, 2011
Location: Metropolitan Memorial Full Gospel Baptist Church – 431 Hawkins St.,
Time: 6:45-8:45.

This event is an informational townhall meeting on the effort to repeal Public Act 4 (aka “the Financial Martial Law Act”) recently passed by the Republicans in Michigan’s legislature.
Speakers include Chris Savage from Eclectablog (me), Ypsilanti City Council member Ricky Jefferson, President & CEO of Michigan Forward Brandon Jessup, and President of the Ann Arbor Education Association Brit Satchwell.

  • If you have questions about why it important that Michiganders repeal this anti-democratic law, this townhall is for you.
  • If you want to be part of repealing a law that disenfranchises voters, this townhall is for you.
  • If you would like to sign a petition or obtain petitions to gather signatures, this townhall is for you.

With Republicans in control of the Senate, the House, the Governor’s office and the Supreme Court, there are very few ways for those of us who oppose their extreme overreach to have a voice or a significant impact. This repeal effort is an exception to that. Once enough valid signatures are collected, the law stops being a law IMMEDIATELY.

Please attend this important townhall next Monday night. I hope to see you there.
