UPDATED: Tea Partiers in Michigan prove their gullibility yet again

by

Seriously, are you THAT stupid???!

UPDATED below.

The “Rebuild America — Defeat Obama” bus tour rolled into Brighton, Michigan yesterday and it was an incredible display of some of the most blatant cognitive dissonance to date.

Here’s some highlights from the Livingston County Press & Argus report:

About 300 people poured into Brighton’s Mill Pond area Monday as The Beatles’ “Taxman” blared over loudspeakers, an apparent attack on the tax policies of Democratic President Barack Obama.

Apparently these people are completely unaware that Barack Obama has LOWERED their taxes and it’s Mitt Romney’s plan that will raise taxes on the middle class. Oh, yeah, don’t forget the Michigan Republicans raised their taxes, too. They somehow blame President Obama for that, apparently.

The Rebuild America — Defeat Obama rally included speakers and musicians, all of whom decried Obama administration policies and called on Republicans to do all they can to elect GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney on Nov. 6.

The national tour’s enormous buses, featuring images of Romney and his running mate, U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wis., lined Main Street. The buses were scheduled to lead Romney supporters to Oakland University in Rochester Hills, where Ryan spoke Monday.

This is fascinating since at the bottom of The Campaign to Defeat Obama‘s website contains this statement:

Paid for by The Campaign to Defeat Barack Obama
Not authorized by any candidate or candidate’s committee

Here’s more:

Fellow vocalist Lloyd Marcus, who is black, said Obama leads an “evil, racist, divisive administration.” Marcus sang several songs, including a parody of Frank Sinatra’s “New York, New York,” inserting anti-Obama lyrics in place of Sinatra’s lyrics.

Yes, he’s black, a fact not overlooked on the About page of The Campaign to Defeat Obama:

Lloyd Marcus is a (black) Unhyphenated American and an internationally renowned conservative columnist, singer/songwriter and author.

Here’s Lloyd Marcus:

As you can see, he is 100% unadulterated, unhyphenated black. That’s why he gets so much attention from the Tea Party like when he traveled with the Tea Party Express tour in 2009 and attended a rally on the very same spot. Here’s what I wrote about him then:

During this time, the speakers had started. There were numerous truly atrocious musical groups including the guy who apparently wrote the “anthem” of the Tea Party Express, Lloyd Marcus. I letchy’all Google that on your own, I’m not linking his douchey You Tube vid. Ironically, Lloyd was, as far as I could tell, the only black guy in the entire 1,000+ person rally. Seriously. Don’t act surprised, people, this is Livingston County we’re talking about.

And then, finally, this:

Highland Township resident Jim Pixley, who tutors Brighton Area Schools students, said Obama administration policies caused his former business to go under. Pixley said there were business regulations enacted under Obama that hampered his business.

“It just made it impossible to stay in business,” Pixley said. “Anything I can do other than just vote is what I’m going to do to get that guy out of there.”

This is an interesting quote, particularly considering that the Obama administration has enacted fewer new regulations that his predecessors:

Obama’s White House has approved fewer regulations than his predecessor George W. Bush at this same point in their tenures, and the estimated costs of those rules haven’t reached the annual peak set in fiscal 1992 under Bush’s father, according to government data reviewed by Bloomberg News.

This guys is either lying or blaming his failure as a businessman on “that one”.

It’s par for the course with these people, though. They have already decided that President Obama is the cause of their problems and they let won’t pesky facts get in the way of a good dose of anti-Obama outrage. Just like the astroturf Tea Party Express bus tours, this one is just another effort to stoke hatred and division all the while blaming President Obama for being divisive. If it weren’t so frightening, it would be laughable.

Adding… I can all but guarantee you that these same people are “BLS Truthers”, people that believe that, somehow, someway, President Obama has manipulated the nonpolitical and nonpartisan Bureau of Labor Statistics into jiggering the employment numbers to make him look good right before the election. Here’s what the sage LOLGOP wrote over at the National Memo:

The right can’t decide if President Obama is lazy and incompetent or an all-powerful puppetmaster.

Apparently they believe he has the power to magically influence jobs numbers and polls, but he waited nearly four years before deciding to do so. He’s also a Kenyan, anti-colonial radical who is trying to replace freedom with a health care plan that nearly exactly resembles their party’s nominee’s health care plan. He’s a Socialist who has led America to a doubling of the stock market, along with record corporate profits.

That’s exactly the mindset of the Tea Party imbeciles. Give them credit: it takes a very malleable mind to hold such contradictory thoughts in the same “brain”.

Also, too… Let’s not forget what complete fools the Republicans have made out of the tea party:

[O]nce again, the religious, social conservatives of the Republican Party are being relegated to the role of “useful idiot”, their votes counted on and taken for granted while they actually have no voice in the actual process. And, should Romney win, you can be sure that his agenda will have more to do with shifting the country into further becoming a corporatocracy while the issues the tea partying Paulites care about will get short shrift. The biggest difference is that, this time, we get to watch it happening on live television.

What will be interesting to see is if these tea parties wake up this time and realize they are being used and will be discarded after the election until sometime in early 2016. Will they realize that Mitt Romney’s corporate connections are far more important and carry far more power than they ever will? Will they allow these corporatists to manipulate them like rubes at a carnival or will they fight back and cause trouble for Romney.

Either way, it will be fun, if not a bit frightening to watch. Because, let’s face it, if either of these camps wins, America loses.
