Racist denies she’s a racist – says “Don’t Renig in 2012” bumpersticker isn’t racist

Right, dude. Whatever.

Last May, I posted a piece titled “Don’t let ANYONE EVER tell you racism isn’t alive and well in the USA” that showed a bumpersticker and t-shirt saying “Don’t renig in 2012”. The t-shirt actually showed the Obama campaign logo on it making it clear what it was about. From my post:

That bumpersticker says “Don’t RENIG in 2012”. “RENIG” is not a misspelling of the word “renege”, it’s saying “don’t relelect a nigger in 2012”.

This particular photo was snapped in Arizona but someone in the comments section said they’ve seen it in the Detroit area, too. I wouldn’t be a bit surprised to see it in Livingston County, Michigan where I work. Not one bit.

Oh, and the windshield sticker says “Talk shit, get shot”.

Mouth-breathing troglodytes. And there are still a LOT of them around.

Over the past week, the piece has gone viral again, mainly from Google searches spurred by more reports of these hideous bumperstickers. We’ve gotten well over 10,000 hits on it in the past three days.

This past weekend, Forbes ran an exclusive piece quoting a purveyor of the offensively racist bumperstickers:

Exclusive: Paula Smith of Hinesville, Georgia has a company called Stickatude.com. And they’re selling their own version of an anti-Obama bumper sticker that reads “Don’t Re-Nig 2012.” Ms. Smith told me in a telephone conversation on Saturday afternoon that the bumper sticker has been in their inventory since June 2010, but just in the last few days it’s started selling. The price is $3. Ms. Smith insisted that the bumper sticker is not racist. I asked her about the “N” word, for which “nig” is the shortened version. “According to the dictionary [the N word] does not mean black. It means a low down, lazy, sorry, low down person. That’s what the N word means.” […]

Ms. Smith — who has an affable disposition and a hearty laugh–said she thought the website was “dead” and up until recently none of her bumper stickers was selling at all. Another site, called Stumpy’s Stickers, was originally credited with selling the Obama sticker. Ms. Smith says however she doesn’t own that site and didn’t know anything about it. She said Stumpy’s Stickers could have linked to their site, but she didn’t sell them any that they could have re-sold. Where did Ms. Smith find the sticker in the first place? “We just found it on the internet, and thought it was cute. It’s been up there since he’s been president.”

How did I find Stickatude.com? Clicking on Stumpysstickers.com from a story posted to Yahoo! caused a redirect to Stickatude. Ms. Smith is the official registered owner of the internet address, www.stickatude.com.

Looks to me like not only is Ms. Smith a racist, she’s also a liar.

She might also want to consult the Miriam-Webster dictionary site:

  1. usually offensive; see usage paragraph below: a black person
  2. usually offensive; see usage paragraph below: a member of any dark-skinned race
  3. a member of a socially disadvantaged class of persons “It’s time for somebody to lead all of America’s niggers … all the people who feel left out of the political process — Ron Dellums

Nigger in senses 1 and 2 can be found in the works of such writers of the past as Joseph Conrad, Mark Twain, and Charles Dickens, but it now ranks as perhaps the most offensive and inflammatory racial slur in English. Its use by and among blacks is not always intended or taken as offensive, but, except in sense 3, it is otherwise a word expressive of racial hatred and bigotry.

Or Wikipedia:

Nigger is a noun in the English language, most notable for its usage in a pejorative context to refer to black people

Or Dictionary.com:

The term nigger is now probably the most offensive word in English. Its degree of offensiveness has increased markedly in recent years, although it has been used in a derogatory manner since at least the Revolutionary War. Definitions 1a, 1b, and 2 represent meanings that are deeply disparaging and are used when the speaker deliberately wishes to cause great offense…

  1. Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive.
    a. a black person.
    b. a member of any dark-skinned people.
  2. Slang: Extremely Disparaging and Offensive. a person of any race or origin regarded as contemptible, inferior, ignorant, etc.
  3. a victim of prejudice similar to that suffered by blacks; a person who is economically, politically, or socially disenfranchised.

Mouth-breathing troglodytes. And there are, indeed, still a LOT of them around.

My father grew up and was raised in shreveport Louisiana he was beaten in the face while being called that ugly word and he left and moved to California. This word carries deep rooted hatred. I hate that our generation of all kinds   whites, Hispanics , and blacks use this word as a form of endearment in some awkward form of way. People are disgusted with the fact that our president is African american and these usage of words is a prime example that racism is still alive and in full effect.

To all parents, educators, whomever please have your family research the word and tell them that it carries such sadness and bad history with that slur. There is nothing wonderful about the word or endearing, or loving or nothing. It is part of our ugly history.

    • The president is only half african american. His father is african so he is a real one but the people who did not abandoned him were white.

  • Joe Cantrell

Writing from the 19th Century refers to American Indians as “red niggers,” or “prairie niggers.”

  • cryingliberty

The shortened version, in British English, is often used to refer to a cigarette.

In a highly unfortunate lexicographical incident, a slightly-misspelled version (Fagott in German, fagotto in Italian, fagot in Spanish), also refers to a musical instrument – the bassoon.

from what im reading in the article and in the comments the whole situation sounds like a grade school playground type of attitude. their is not a culture on earth that at one time or another that hasnt been inslaved or mistreated by others . in the u.s. every american citizen has the same rights and same oppurtunities it is just a matter of taking advantage of them . playing the racism card has become nothing more than an excuse for people to try and get something for nothing . its time that people grow up and act like adults and get over it on all sides of the fence . it shouldnt matter what someone calls you all it is is a word to try and illicite a response . by not responding to them just shows your a better person . i find that the media coverage of things of this nature only provolks situations that under normal circumstances people would forget about in 10 minutes and go on with their lifes but unfortunately they parade it like its a catastrify ,its not, they are just words made up of constanents and vowels, they can do you no physical harm so let it go they are not worth agonizing yourself over .                                            sincerely ,voiceofreasen

Not all Black people (I loathe the term “African American“) use that crappy word as a term of endearment.  Most of us see it for the negative word that it is meant to be.

    • CB_Demented

True. But that’s not really the point is it. It’s in wide use as a generally accepted term by a large number of black people, especially in the urban centers.

It’s much like the term “fag,” which is also something with a negative connotation, but used frequently in many circles in the gay community.

    • Thanks Deuce.

  •  AS IF Black people WANTED to work for free….while being raped, abused, sold as property. Lazy?  That’s amazing hypocritical….especially when one considers the fact that if those devils didn’t have slaves, they’d have to pay people fairly to do all of the work that the slaves would do without any pay….in the fields and in the house!

    • SpaceRat

Let’s not forget that it was BLACKS that sold BLACKS to the slave traders in the first place.

    • The black slave owners sold them. Why is nobody upset with this. I dont believe the laziness came in until the 70’s.

  • CB_Demented

current immigration policies are a completely different subject, and I have many problems with them…the first being that they aren’t enforced.

I think this bumper sticker is pathetic…and so is the sentiment used to justify it.

Everyone is at the table…provided they’re here legally and are thus eligible to be there.

  • CB_Demented

The same thing that happened to a great many other words…it’s incorrectly used. Racism does not equal prejudice or bigotry…but it gets thrown around as if it does. The second someone says something that’s prejudiced, it’s somehow automatically racist. It isn’t.

  • No argument. Free enterprise at its best and I need to find one. It is funny.

    • WokOnWater

      Doyle you’re a cunt

      • He’s also banned

      • Wok……….hey jackass at least I am man enough to use my name. I am what I eat. I guess that makes you a dick.

  • Not even close Jeff.

  • It was used long before there were blacks in this country.

    • rezme

Cite me an example with some proof behind it. Wikipedia disagrees with you.

  • Also we say mayate.

    • Maritzasolito

La palabra “mayate” es derogatoria pero
si tú piensas de esa manera tú estás mal informado/a.

      • Tu madre Maritzasolito. Chupa me verdga por favor.

        • Maritzasolito

          entiendo porque eres tan estúpido!

    • Maritzasolito

      need to get a life.

  • Amen.

  • Immigration policies do make me sick but how do we keep the illegal aliens from coming in? I would love to hear it.

  • WokOnWater

in all honesty, the word “niggard” in fact does not mean black. It means a low down, lazy, sorry, low down person. But, let’s not kid ourselves and discredit the fact that the stickers are obviously a reference to Obama’s race, and the that the word “nigger” is what’s truly being referenced here.

    • Interesting. Niggard is actually closer to the popular “nigga” which people claim is completely different and unoffensive.

  • The only way a word has power is if people empower it. Sticks and stones…..? The word also happens to be every fourth word in many rap songs as well as many conversations and greetings in a large segment of the population, mostly black, but not exclusively. Look how often people who are critical of obama are labeled “racists”, to me this says, you want to call people racists, at least this way we’ve earned it.

  • Nogoodpoliticalparties

So this is what libs do all day. I’d be more interested in a sticker that says, “I’m thru with this asshole”. Not racist, and more to the point.

  • Trualpha

It’s a bumper sticker for gods sake. I took more offense to the “pres.” saying if he had a son it’d be Treyvon Martin.

  • Thomas

“Nigger” is derived from “negro”, which originated as the Spanish word for the color “black”. So you can’t take the racism out of the word. Besides, the rest of Mrs. Smith’s “dictionary” definition implies a host of other racist stereotypes. Free speech? Yeah. In fact I’m glad that such misguided folks exercise their free speech so that we can respond in a civil manner to their ignorance, instead of letting them spread it around in secret.

  • justhefaxmaam

What difference does it make? He’s not even black. His mother was white. His father was Kenyan, which means he was an arab.

  • You want to explain that stupid remark Arakiba…how is Fox News racist?

  • I am deeply offended by the term african american. I would rather be called a nigger.

  • Actually if it says “dont renig in 2012” it is saying to vote for him. To renig is to go against what you have already done. I left the democrat party because of its devotion to the KKK which I am strongly opposed to.

  • He should go to msnbc. I dont think fox would want a racist…………..however this is not racist.

  • I know how you feel. I saw an obama sticker here in my town and was angry and wanted to confront the asshole but i HAD MY KIDS IN THE CAR………………so I just let it go.

  • You busted out nigger………………What of it. Honkey, beaner, wop, pole, nigger, rusky, kraut……………….they are all just words and if everyone lived these words like the rappers in our world it would not be a problem.

  • Why are all white people or non black people scared of the “nigger” word people getting fired over it its crazy it’s a word like jew ginny polock nazi brand they don’t mean nothing! we need to let it go.

  • Fuck you faggot

Just because it’s free speech doesn’t mean I should “get over it.” You fucking half brained racist piece of shit.

  • Franklin Nutter

Well what if the sticker really means “Don’t re-elect a nigga in 2012” because apparently this is an acceptable word these day (sarcasm)
