Republican Tim Walberg introduced bill to make top government positions subject to partisan politics

The Senior Executive Service (SES) is made up of the men and women who lead most of the major government agencies in the USA. According to the Office of Management and Budget, “Members of the SES serve in the key positions just below the top Presidential appointees. SES members are the major link between these appointees and the rest of […]

Strange bedfellows: Republican Rick Snyder endorsed by anti-gun Michael Bloomberg AND the NRA

In what was a surprise to pretty much nobody, former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg endorsed Republican Rick Snyder this past week. He’s also spending $2 million on pro-Snyder ads. I say it’s unsurprising because (a) Bloomberg held a mega-fundraiser for Snyder back in June in the midst of the road funding battle in the Michigan legislature that ended […]

Terri Lynn Land signs pledge to repeal Obamacare which would deny healthcare to hundreds of thousands of Michiganders

The conservative group Independent Women’s Voice announced yesterday that Terri Lynn Land has signed their “Pledge to Repeal Obamacare”. The pledge reads: The Repeal Pledge (Candidate Version) I pledge, if elected, to vote for all bills which seek to REPEAL the health care bill, HR 3590, signed into law on March 23, 2010.* To that end, I would now and […]

Terri Lynn Land embraces tea party’s “Force States to Raise Gas Taxes on Themselves to Fix Roads Act”

Back in February, “Crazy Kerry” Bentivolio published an op-ed in the Detroit Free Press expressing his strong support for something called the “Transportation Empowerment Act” (TEA), legislation sponsored by ardent Tea Party Caucus members Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) and Representative Tom Graves (R-GA). The TEA would do the following: Grant “all authority regarding federal highway and transit programs to the […]

Michigan tea partiers in full-blown panic over possible creation of state-run health insurance exchange

Michigan tea partiers in full-blown panic over possible creation of state-run health insurance exchange

With the recent conflicting rulings by federal courts over whether subsidies for health insurance can be used by residents in states relying on the federal health insurance exchange created by the Affordable Care Act, there is discussion of revisiting the creation of a state-run exchange in Michigan. There could be another push in Lansing to set up a state-run website […]

Michigan Republicans propose fetal heartbeat bill to ban abortions at 8 weeks—or earlier

If the legislation passes, many women won’t even know they’re pregnant before it’s too late to get a legal abortion. On the same day conservative Rep. Eric Cantor was primaried by his Tea Party candidate for being too liberal, Michigan Republicans proved just how far they’re willing to go to satisfy their extremist supporters. Rep. Tom Hooker and 16 co-sponsors […]

Kerry Bentivolio has a solution for Michigan’s roads: give control to state Republicans who have neglected them for so long

Kerry Bentivolio has a solution for Michigan’s roads: give control to state Republicans who have neglected them for so long

Oh, brother… Kerry Bentivolio, the “accidental Congressman”, has a solution for the atrocious problems facing Michigan road repair. He wants to — and I’m not making this up — give the federal money spent on road repair in Michigan to Republican legislators who have shown absolutely no interest in fixing our roads for the past 2+ years. In an op-ed […]

UPDATED: Conduct unbecoming: Par for the course with Michigan Congressman Kerry Bentivolio

By tacit approval, Rep. Bentivolio endorses disparaging comments made by staffer Tim Bos about Rep. John Dingell. UPDATE: Rep. Bentivolio’s office responds. See below. When the news broke that U.S. Congressman John Dingell was retiring, social media was buzzing at full tilt. Almost to a person, everyone I saw comment on the news was respectful of Rep. Dingell’s longstanding service […]

Delta County GOP names Republicans like Tim Walberg who “Blatantly Surrendered to the Homosexual & Stealth Jihad Agenda”

AND THEY DIDN’T EVEN USE ALL CAPS!!! LOLOLOL. You might think you have some rabid tea partiers in your area, tea partiers that are the worst of the worst, more steeped in vitriolic tea than anybody else’s tea partiers. You might think you have the most over-the-top, unhinged, detached from reality tea partiers of all of the unmoored tea partiers […]

Tea party PAC calls LGBT advocacy group Equality Michigan a “hate group” and homophobe Dave Agema “a prophet”

Under fire and on the run You can always tell when you have the tea party backed into a corner. That’s when they bring out the Big Crazy guns with both barrels blazing. That happened this week when the tea party’s Madison Project Michigan PAC sent out an email from Jack Hoogendyk, a tea partier who primaried U.S. Representative Fred […]

Disgraced/recalled homophobic Troy Mayor Janice Daniels loses bid for City Council seat

Disgraced/recalled homophobic Troy Mayor Janice Daniels loses bid for City Council seat

And STAY out!

As I reported back in August disgraced former Troy mayor Janice Daniels was on the ballot yesterday for one of three seats on the Troy city council. Daniels, a known homophobic tea partier who was recalled from office in 2012 after only a year in office, was rejected again by voters, this time coming in fourth place. She received only 11.33% of the vote.

It was a victory for sanity for Troy. The only question remaining is whether Ms. Daniels will take “get the hell out of here” for an answer. If the past is prelude to the future, sadly, she won’t.
