EVENT: Youth group Detroit Does Well hosts “Your Vote, Your Voice” event TONIGHT in Ypsilanti

Detroit Does Well is a student-run organization that recognizes the talent, leaders, and Entrepreneurs that arise from their organization. They focus on showing Detroit in a positive light through mentoring, volunteering, and events that brands individuals through their organization. Tonight they are hosting an event in Ypsilanti titled “Your Vote, Your Voice” particularly aimed at students in the southeast Michigan area:

The event will be held at Big Bob’s Lakehouse on the campus of Eastern Michigan University (near the Student Center) from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. The event is open to the public and they are expecting an audience of between 30-60 students, aged 18 and older, that are of various racial and ethnic backgrounds. The focus is on the importance of voting and being heard in the electoral process. The speakers come from a variety of backgrounds and campaigns and include:

  • Daniel Baxter — Keynote Speaker discussing the importance of voting
  • Chris Savage (me) — Keynote Speaker – Chair of the Washtenaw County Democratic Party and publisher of Eclectablog.com
  • Cleveland Chandler — Closing Speaker, Chair of the Eastern Washtenaw Democratic Club who will have registration forms and pamphlets regarding important dates related to voting
  • Sam Jones-Darling — representing the Clinton Campaign
  • Greg Funck — representing the Sanders Campaign
  • Austin Deljevic — representing the Rubio Campaign
