BREAKING! New member of Team Eclectablog: Tony Trupiano

I am excited to announce the latest addition to our team at Eclectablog, my dear friend Tony Trupiano. I first met Tony shortly after he returned to the radio airwaves after an unsuccessful run to unseat Thad McCotter in Congress. Tony’s morning radio show, First Shift with Tony Trupiano, was a progressive breath of fresh air amidst the plethora of right wing radio hosts. The show later changed to an evening radio program, Night Shift with Tony Trupiano, which ran until earlier this year when Tony threw his hat in the ring to run for the state House of Representatives in the 13th House District. Unfortunately for all of us, he was unsuccessful in that bid.

Tony has nearly two decades of experience on the radio and had a nationally syndicated show prior to his run for Congress. In addition to that, he has run three different restaurants including one downriver in Wyandotte. His years as a progressive radio show host have connected him to nearly every issue progressives work on from the environment and labor to women’s rights and education. His experience gives him a unique perspective on politics, candidates, office holders, and state policy. There are few people who can speak about progressive topics in a more informed way than he can.

In some ways, Tony and I have come full circle. I began regularly “appearing” on his morning radio show several years ago and it’s not an overstatement to say that the exposure that I and the site got from those interviews helped put us on the radar of a lot of Michiganders. Having Tony contributing here will help ensure that his voice continues to be heard across the state.

Please welcome Tony Trupiano to our team. We’re all simply thrilled to have him on board.
