Dave Agema’s very bad, no good, terrible karma train wreck week

by

How’s that first-class bigotry thing working out for you, Dave?

This has been a really crappy week for Michigan’s most (in)famous bigot Dave Agema. He’s been getting a shipload of abuse from every corner and it’s no longer just us dirty hippies that are calling him out. He’s been getting a rasher of fecal matter from the likes of Fred Upton, Betsy DeVos, Justin Amash, and even RNC chair Reince Priebus.

It’s no surprise he’s getting so much abuse from his pals in the Republican Party. The fact is, he’s hurting the brand in a big way. In fact, in a stunning move, the founder of GOProud, a Republican LGBT advocacy group has now formally left the GOP. In his statement he said:

I just came to the realization that the Republican Party doesn’t represent my principles and values. I’m a small government conservative and they’re for big government. They’re happy to have big government as long as they’re in charge, More importantly, I don’t tolerate bigotry of any kind, whether it’s anti-gay bigotry, anti-Muslim bigotry. And they do and that’s just not OK with me.

If there’s a poster child for “anti-gay bigotry” and “anti-Muslim bigotry” it’s Dave Agema.

Agema was supposed to attend RNC meetings in Washington, D.C. this week with his pal Terri Lynn Land but, given all the flak he was getting, he chickened out and decided not to go. He cancelled his hotel reservation and, instead, sent a “proxy” to vote for him.

It was a real show of courage and conviction.

The most hilarious part of this was the excuse Agema gave:

My liberal critics within the Republican Party have chosen to elevate this discussion to the RNC Meeting and make it a drawn out fight between liberals and conservatives within the party.

For this reason, I have decided it is best for the party that I not attend the meeting this week and instead have sent a proxy who will vote how I want on the Rules.

When you are reduced to calling Fred Upton, Justin Amash, Betsy DeVos, and Reince Priebus “liberal” Republicans… well, let’s just things have taken a serious turn for the OMG WTF ROFL!

To add insult to injury, a lawsuit that Agema is part of was tossed out like a moldy piece of bread yesterday. As CAIR Michigan reports a frivolous lawsuit by the far-right Thomas More Law Center was dismissed by a federal judge:

The Michigan chapter of the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR-MI) today announced that a federal judge has dismissed a lawsuit filed by the Thomas More Law Center against the civil rights organization and Dawud Walid, its executive director. In granting CAIR-MI’s motion to dismiss at the lawsuit’s earliest possible stage, the court said “Plaintiffs’ allegations do not state a plausible constitutional deprivation.” The Thomas More Law Center filed the suit on behalf of four plaintiffs, including Republican National Committeeman Dave Agema, ACT! for America President Elizabeth Griffin, Mark Gurley, and Allegan County Commissioner Willis Sage. […]

The suit was filed after an event hosting Kamal Saleem, a renowned Islamophobe whose real name is reportedly Khodor Shami, was cancelled after Walid and People for the American Way co-authored a letter to Allegan Public Schools asking them to drop the event.

I love it when detestable bigots get smacked head on by the karma train. Good luck with your grifter fundraiser, Dave. You’re gonna need it.
