Marriage equality MONEY BOMB, Day 3 – Help end Michigan’s same-sex marriage ban that over half of Michiganders don’t support

by

NOTE: Every day this week I will be posting about the fundraiser for the legal fund for April DeBoer and Jayne Rowse who are challenging Michigan’s discriminatory marriage ban. Over half of the residents in our state oppose this law and it’s time for it to go away for good. Equally as important, it is a case that’s likely to go to the U.S. Supreme Court where it may very well decide the fate of same-sex marriage bans across the country once and for all. It’s important that the case is done well at the state level so that it lays a solid foundation for consideration by higher courts. I hope you’ll join me in making a donation at MichiganMarriageChallenge.com today or by clicking the widget at the top right of the page. You can read my interview with Jayne and April HERE.

Michigan’s same-sex marriage ban is the product of the American Family Association of Michigan, led by Gary Glenn, a man who thinks you become more bigoted and homophobic as you get older. The fact is that this law, passed by ballot initiative in 2004, no longer represents the will of the voters of Michigan. A poll in May of this year showed that 56% of Michiganders support marriage equality. An EPIC-MRA poll showed similar support with 55% supporting a constitutional amendment to allow same-sex couples to marry.

It’s time for our laws to keep up with the our opinions and April and Jayne’s lawsuit could very well be the means by which that happens. Please help support their legal team as they take on this important case. You can do so by clicking the widget below.
