Eclectablog server move happening tonight, site will be down for some time

by

I am happy/terrified to inform you that we are moving Eclectablog to a new server this evening, a process being handled by our intrepid web hosting provider Charles Gaba of Brainwrap Web Design. This will give us more bandwidth, more storage, and better service overall so it’s a smart move. It’s also one that gives me heartburn and anxiety. The last time I did this, I forgot to turn off the email notifications so all our subscribers got over 100 emails when the old posts republished at the new site.

I obviously won’t make that mistake again : \

If all goes well, the site will be at its new home by day’s end and, other than some downtime, you won’t notice a thing. If things don’t go well, keep informed about our status via the Eclectablog Facebook page HERE and on Twitter HERE.

You may need to clear your browser cache once we make the move and it usually takes some time for the internet to propagate the change throughout all of the DNS servers around the world. I suspect we’ll be back in full working order sometime tomorrow afternoon, probably before then.

It’s worth noting that these improvements are paid for largely by your contributions during our fundraisers and we are very appreciative of that. Your support helps us to provide you with a better overall site experience.

See you on the other side.

– Chris
