Day 3: Fourth Quarter Fundraiser — How Eclectablog makes a real difference

by

We don’t just tell you what you need to know. We help motivate action and change.

We realize no one loves fundraisers. We wouldn’t keep hitting you up for money if we didn’t have to. But here at Eclectablog, everything we do is supported in large part by our readers.

And we return the favor. I can tell you why I think we make a difference in the lives of our readers. We care deeply about the causes we write about, and we do it because we want to make a difference in Michigan and the United States. We write about stories no one else is paying attention to. We tell the truth, because we believe someone has to when so many other news outlets’ content is being dictated by sponsors or corporate interests. Sure, we write from a progressive perspective — but we tell you that up front. And have high standards of integrity, because we want our readers to know they can rely on us.

But, of course, I’m biased. So I asked a friend why she supports Eclectablog. Here’s what she had to say.

You give me a voice for my frustration about what’s happening in Michigan and across the country. Your posts remind me I’m not alone in my thoughts — and, therefore, it’s not a waste of effort to engage politically. Because I trust the fact-based information you share, I can use it to help me create grassroots action. What you write helps us work together. It unifies us.

That’s what the work we do means to many of our readers. And if it means something to you, we hope you’ll do what you can to support us. There are three ways to help.

First, you can make your donation using the PayPal link below. You can change the amount if you wish.

[donateplus]

Or you can wait until the TinyPass pop-up pops up (every tenth click on the site) and donate that way. If you do that, the popups will go away as long as you have cookies enabled. Again, the default amounts for annual or monthly donations can be adjusted to whatever you wish them to be.

Finally, if you would prefer to send a check, send Chris an email and he’ll give you the address.

If you can’t afford to support us financially, you can still help. Please share our content on your Facebook page or other social media like Twitter, Reddit, etc. Put a “Like” on our Facebook page and click the “Invite friends” button and encourage your friends to like us, too.

Every little bit helps. And together, we can make a difference.

Thanks so much,
Amy, Chris, Anne and LOLGOP
