Please, just pack up your stuff and go
Buena Vista Township Clerk Gloria Platko, a Democrat, revealed her inner racist when during a phone call with Interim Township Manager Dexter Mitchell, calling the Township Supervisor Dwayne Parker an “arrogant nigger”. Referring to Parker, she said, “He is just doing whatever he can. You know what I think of Mr. Parker right now, and I know you’re not even going to like this. But he’s just an arrogant nigger. And I’m sorry to say it that way, but that’s the way I feel.” Not so sorry that she couldn’t just keep her racist sputum to herself, it seems.
This story has gotten surprisingly little coverage in Michigan and I only became aware of it myself when my pal Imani Gandy (@AngryBlackLady) tweeted it to me this morning (it happened over a week ago.) Imani’s piece on this, by the way, “MI DEM: Some of My Best Friends Are Niggers”, is a must-read.
Platko is actually defending herself with statements like “I’ve eaten Thanksgiving dinner with black friends at their house so I’m far from prejudiced” and “To those of you who know me, you know that I don’t have a discriminatory bone in my body”. She, apparently, doesn’t have a functional brain cell in her head, either. Imani has the best response to this that I’ve seen:
What is going on in this world when a nice white old lady can’t call an arrogant nigger an “arrogant nigger” without black people getting all niggerish about it and taking her words the wrong way? {…}Hey Gloria? You called a black dude “nigger.” In this here post-racial America, you can get away with a lot because we’ve got a black president and all, but the rule book states that if you hurl that word at somebody, it means you have a discriminatory bone somewhere in your body. Maybe that bone is in your pinky toe, but still — that’s one racist-ass pinky toe.

My advice to Platko: Lady Racist, you’re done. You’re the lone white person on a Township Board that now knows how you really feel. You’re a disgrace to your office, a disgrace to Democrats and all the rest of us who fight social and racial injustice every goddam day, and you are now officially worthless as a Township Clerk. Pack your stuff up and go on home now. You’re “talents” are no longer required and your presence is nothing more than an offensive distraction. Just go.
