ACTION: AFL-CIO to host “Walk of Shame” to welcome back Michigan Republicans – TOMORROW, WED., JAN 9

by

We haven’t forgotten

Michigan Republicans surely hoped we would all “just settle down” and forget about the travesty that was their inflamed duck session. On the contrary, we not only did not forget, we are more fired up than ever to put a stop to their destruction of our state.

The first step happens tomorrow when the legislators return to the Capitol for the swearing in ceremony of the new legislature.

The AFL-CIO will be there with working families from across the state to remind them of the shameful things they have done and let them know we aren’t backing down.

MICHIGAN LEGISLATURE WALK OF SHAME

Last month, Lansing politicians rammed through dozens of half-baked bills that hurt middle class families, undermine women’s health care, and harm local schools.

Legislators will be sworn-in at a ceremony at the State Capitol on Wednesday, January 9, where they will be welcomed with a ‘Walk of Shame’ highlighting their votes during the lame duck session.

Join us at the State Capitol Wednesday to help send a message that Lansing politicians need to create jobs and protect the middle class, not corporate CEOs like Dick DeVos.

WHAT: ‘Walk of Shame’ welcoming politicians back to Lansing for swearing-in ceremony (Remember to wear your work clothes.)

WHEN: Wednesday, January 9. Arrive at 7:30am. March to the Capitol at 8:15am. Walk of Shame starts by 8:30am. Press conference at 10am. Swearing-in ceremony at 12pm.

WHERE: Workers should meet at Central United Methodist Church at 215 N Capitol Ave at 7:30am. March to the Capitol at 8:15am.

We want legislators to see the working families that they are supposed to serve as they enter the capitol to be sworn in. Shame on them for siding with corporate special interests.

Let us know you’ll be there:
