This time he’s gone TOO far!
ALERT THE PRESS!!! FIRE UP THE TORCHES!!! MAN THE PITCHFORKS!!!
President Obama has dissed every business owner, alive or dead, EVER!
How? He said this:
“If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
He totally did. I learned about it from a Romney campaign email and, by God, IT’S TRUE!!! OMG!!!
President Obama recently said, “If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.”
Comments like that are a slap in the face to the American Dream and reveal the President’s naïve view that government, and not the hard work, talent, and initiative of people, is the center of society and the economy. Clearly, this President doesn’t understand how our economy works.
Mitt Romney knows from experience that hard-working individuals create successful businesses. Americans have run out of patience — donate today to send a message to President Obama that there is one clear choice this November.
Donate today and stand with Mitt.
Romney for President
Except, not surprisingly, it’s taken completely out of context. If you don’t see the sentence immediately preceding it, you’ll have no idea what the President was talking about.
So, Jack, let’s roll the tape from yesterday’s campaign stop in Roanoke, Virginia:
PRESIDENT OBAMA: We’ve already made a trillion dollars’ worth of cuts. We can make some more cuts in programs that don’t work, and make government work more efficiently…We can make another trillion or trillion-two, and what we then do is ask for the wealthy to pay a little bit more …
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me, because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
And that, kids, is the absolute and complete truth. No wealthy person got to where they are today without benefiting from the things that America, the UNITED States of America, has collectively built. Roads. Clean water. Sewage treatment. Airports. Bridges. Telephones. The internet. All of the national infrastructure that keeps things rolling efficiently and safely were done by us as a union, working together.
The wealthier you are, the more you have benefited from that. Period.
But, hey, let’s not let a little context and truth get in the way of a
little HUGE hypocritical misrepresentation of the President’s words, right?
And who’s asking whom for an apology???
UPDATE: Here’s video of the section of the speech where President Obama made the
outrageous rational statement:
