New Year’s resolutions

by

I’m usually not one for New Year’s resolutions but a diary last week on Daily Kos got me thinking. The diarist asked us to consider our political goals for 2011 in the following categories:

Personal
Family
Financial
State Political
National Political
Policy

So, here are mine. Feel free to share yours in the comments.

Personal: Write a book (which I have already started) about my life with my mother who lived her entire life with manic-depressive illness. I have an editor (Katie Hall who edited “Flags of our Fathers”) and a really amazing story to tell. Also, to increase the readership of my blog, Eclectablog. Also, go to the dentist ;)
Family: Continue to make my marriage the most important thing in my life and to advance the partnership my wife have formed so that we can both pursue our dreams together in ways that are personally-enriching on an individual level but also that take us forward in achieving our goals together.
Financial: Sell my book, increase the money I am able to make on my blog and be successful enough at my day job that I continue to advance in both position and pay.
State Political: Work hard in my new position on our county Democratic Party Executive Board and Committee and as Vice-chair for Precinct Organizing to increase the impact of Democrats in the Ann Arbor area, a very progressive part of our state.
National Political: Continue in my position of Community Organizer for Organizing for America (a volunteer position) to advance the goals of the Obama administration.
Policy: Continue to work hard on the issues that are most important to me. In particular: green energy & the environment and economic growth/jobs in the USA.

Okay. Your turn.

I’m just sayin’…
