Michigan Republicans, Rick Snyder — February 10, 2014 at 6:57 am

Governor Rick Snyder has determined how much he’s willing to pay you for your vote: $75.

Nothing crass or pandering about that…

In typical Republican fashion, Gov. Snyder is proposing an election year tax cut that barely covers one trip to the grocery store. It appears that, after doing the math, he’s determined that he can buy your vote for $75.

Roughly 1.3 million Michigan taxpayers could be in line for a rebate check averaging $75 dollars under a proposal offered this week by Republican Gov. Rick Snyder — but the state Legislature could push for an even bigger break. […]

“The whole point of looking at this group was to say, if you’re giving tax relief, can we really focus in on people who are most concerned about paying their bills — people making less than $60,000, hardworking people or retired people?” Snyder said during a live chat in the MLive Lansing hub on Thursday. “How can we give them some relief and help them with their bills?”

Governor Snyder already has the votes of most rich people in this state. Who would have dreamed that he would do so much to benefit so few after only three years at the helm? The people who have paid the price for his largesse to our wealthiest residents are seniors, the middle class, and poor Michiganders. So, in order to purchase their votes, he’s going to give them $75 and hope they’ll forget that it has cost them far more than that in higher taxes and service cuts since 2010.

Governor Snyder has put a price tag on your vote. Are you selling?
