While Dems rally behind Gary Peters, Michigan GOP has to settle for benchwarming Terri Lynn Land in Senate race

Sorry, Terri, they’re just not that into you.

It’s not easy being Terri Lynn Land these days. Nobody really likes her that much. She was once the Michigan Secretary of State and she’s been a fairly prominent figure in Republican politics as a member of the RNC for years. With Carl Levin’s Senate seat now up for grabs, she made it clear early on that she was interested.

Here’s the rub: Michigan Republicans aren’t actually interested in HER. For the past several months, prominent Republicans in this state have been keeping Land at arm’s length, waiting for [ohpleaseohpleaseohpleaseohplease] someone better to come along. Mike Rogers was courted. So was Justin Amash. Dave Camp. A veritable Who’s Who of (other) MIGOP luminaries were on the lips of everyone.

Meanwhile, Democrats rapidly coalesced behind Gary Peters, quickly elevating him to the designated candidate a year and a half before the election.

Then came a harsh reality for Republicans: nobody wanted to go up against a powerhouse like Peters. Camp bowed out. Rogers bowed out. This week Amash bowed out. With all of this bowing out, that left Land as the proverbial “last (wo)man standing”. So, after making it abundantly clear that Terri Lynn Land was not their first (or second or third or fourth or…) choice, Republicans are now stuck with her.

Pardon me for a moment but BWAHAHAHAAAA!, LMAO, and LOL.

A retired businessman named Paul Mitchell has created a Super PAC to defeat Peters and has begun running a negative ad against Peters this week in advance of the GOP’s Mackinac Policy Summit on Mackinac Island. Surely he’s on board with Land, right?

Wrong.

[Mitchell] stopped short of endorsing Terri Lynn Land, the former Secretary of State who is the only announced Republican in the race. There may still be others “out there in the wilderness” considering a run, Mitchell said.

“Hopefully this ad evokes a conversation,” he explained. “Some people say it’s time to get off our hands and get engaged, either directly through a campaign — announce they’re going to run or not going to run — and get a message out. We have a choice, and that choice is coming up on us pretty quickly.”

Still waiting for some rich white guy to swoop in and save the day. Poor, Terri Lynn Land. She’s all dressed up for the dance but nobody will ask her out. That’s gotta hurt.

No matter who the GOP picks (and it’s going to be Land), they’ll raise a boatload of money to smear Gary Peters so early funds raised are crucial. You can donate to his campaign HERE.

P.S. Wanna know something else that’s funny? Land is being tutored by failed Congressman Pete Hoekstra on international issues. This is the same guy who ran hideously xenophobic “Debbie Spenditnow” ad during the 2012 Superbowl that ended his Senate bid. He’s the GOP’s expert on international issues.

BWAHAHAHAAAA!, LMAO, and LOL once again.
