The GOP asks us to “Tell us what you REALLY think about Obamacare”. I did. You should, too.

That was fun!

So, early today I received an email from the Republican National Committee titled “Tell us what you think about Obamacare”. In it was a link to a short survey. I clicked through and took their survey.

You should, too!

Friend,

The Democrats have desperately tried everything in their power to change America’s opinion of Obamacare.

From spending millions of dollars to give the law a PR makeover, to delaying implementation in an attempt to protect themselves from retribution at the polls – we are sick of the Democrats’ trying to pull the wool over our eyes.

For three four years we have heard President Obama and his liberal allies tell us that Obamacare will shrink health care costs and create jobs. Today we know the opposite to be true, and we are tired of the lies.

Tell us what you think. Take our Obamacare survey and tell the Democrats how you really feel about this disastrous law!

It is time we made our voices heard.

Thanks,

Mike Shields
RNC Chief of Staff

Here’s the questionnaire along with my answers:

1. Do you support or oppose Obamacare?
● Support
◯ Oppose
◯ No Opinion

2. Should Obamacare be repealed, repealed and replaced with a marketplace solution, or left as is?
◯ Repealed
◯ Repealed and Replaced
● Left as is
◯ No Opinion

3. What is the top concern you have with Obamacare?
◯ The Individual Mandate
◯ The IRS Enforcing Insurance Coverage
◯ Increased Heathcare Costs
◯ Doctors Retiring
◯ I have no concerns
● Other: Republican obstructionism and wasting of tax payer dollars on fruitless attempts to repeal one of the most socially-beneficial government programs in the past 50 years.

Your turn!

At the end there’s a screen for you to donate to the GOP. I didn’t, of course. But the highest suggested amount, far above the rest, were $2400. That just seemed really, oddly specific for some reason. Struck me as odd.

    Done! Thanks for the link.

So if the healthcare bill is one of the most socially-beneficial government programs in the past 50 years, perhaps you could explain why more and more Democrats are turning against it every day? Or how about the fact that it is and will continue to increase the overall cost of healthcare in the US? Perhaps you can explain why the White House keeps on either killing or delaying parts of this wonderful law? Is it because it’s a joke?? More likely because it will be putting pressure on other democrats in the elections next year, pressure that the White House doesn’t want to have to explain.
We could discuss the increases in taxes for businesses that are killing new jobs and turning a large number of full-time jobs into part-time jobs in order to keep businesses from incurring additional taxes/expenses. And while we’re at it there are the taxes that are coming to all American’s, not just the rich but to everyone, in many cases to those that currently don’t even pay any taxes. But what really gets American’s upset is that Democrats want to make it available to illegal aliens!?#*$ If it’s such a wonderful law, why did democrats have to do anything they could to pass it, even considering unconstitutional methods, while the majority at the time didn’t want the changes to their healthcare?
Oh yeah, despite what Obama kept on saying, you won’t be able to keep your doctor if he quits because of it, you won’t be able to keep your insurance plan if your employer drops the coverage because of the additional costs that will cause them to lose money, and you won’t be able to get quality healthcare at all if the law does what it is meant to do – to destroy the healthcare insurance industry which leaves the government to pick up the pieces and gives us socialized medicine. If you think that’s a good idea please note that people from Canada come here to get tests that they usually have to wait a year or more for, people in Britain are trying to figure out how to get rid of their socialized healthcare system as it’s becoming a disaster.

Welcome to one of the worst laws ever passed in United States history folks.

I hope all of the above happen as a result of Obamacare. I’m currently being financially crushed by COBRA, so it’s not like anything is going to get any worse for me. And isn’t that what the Republican party is all about? Look out for #1, everyone else go fuck yourselves?

      • Breadbaker2

If you have a preexisting condition, you may be eligible NOW for a much cheaper plan, and dump the COBRA, which is only a license to steal! Apply to a regular insurer, and when (or if) you are turned down, contact the Health a Human Services in your State or the Feds, who can direct you! Insurance companies have had to return billions of dollars to policy holders, because they MUST spend 80 cents of every premium dollar ON ACTUAL PATIENT CARE!! Costs have gone down the most they have for 50 years! The Affordable Care Act will improve care and reduce costs! It is patterned after Massachusetts plan, which is doing VERY WELL! I sold insurance and saw how the insurance companies were focused only on profits–this is the best thing since sliced bread!!!

Why more and more Democrats are turning against it every day?

It’s actually not that many. At any rate, ask them, not me.

How about the fact that it is and will continue to increase the overall cost of healthcare in the US?

It actually is LOWERING costs. By as much as 50% in New York, for example. You might be listening to the wrong radio stations if you think otherwise.

Perhaps you can explain why the White House keeps on either killing or delaying parts of this wonderful law? Is it because it’s a joke??

Uh, no. It’s to give employers ample time to comply with the law. It’s a big change, for sure. It’s hypocritical to complain it’s too much, too fast and then criticize the federal government for helping businesses by giving them a bit more time. Make up your damned mind.

Democrats want to make it available to illegal aliens!

You just made that up. Or Rush did. Or Hannity. By the way, it’s under the current system that undocumented immigrants receive subsidized healthcare. If they go to an Emergency Room, the hospital is compelled to treat them (thank Ronald Reagan for that.) If they can’t pay, your costs go up so that hospitals can recoup the expense. Not rocket science, of course, but also doesn’t fit well into your/Rush’s distorted, deceptive view about the Affordable Care Act.

Why did democrats have to do anything they could to pass it, even considering unconstitutional methods?

They didn’t. Ask the Supreme Court.

Despite what Obama kept on saying, you won’t be able to keep your doctor if he quits because of it, you won’t be able to keep your insurance plan if your employer drops the coverage because of the additional costs
that will cause them to lose money, and you won’t be able to get quality
healthcare at all if the law does what it is meant to do – to destroy
the healthcare insurance industry which leaves the government to pick up
the pieces and gives us socialized medicine.

Again, costs are actually going down as predicted. When the healthcare exchanges open and for-profit insurance companies are forced to compete (CAPITALISM!), they’ll drop more and faster. But, hey, if the end result of this is an efficient, single-payer system, I’m all for that. It’s what all the smart industrialized countries are doing and their costs are lower while giving good, sometimes better health outcomes to their citizens.

Canadians, by the way, laugh at people like you that claim what we have here is somehow better. So do the Brits. Trust me, I know what I’m talking about. I work for an international company. By the way, I get great insurance through them and they aren’t going to drop it because of Obamacare no matter how hard people like you fear monger the issue.

        Fabulous job! :) Thanks!

  • hoi polloi

that’s fundraiser mailing list bait, not a poll.

    • http://eclectablog.com Eclectablog

      Of course it is.

  • desertflower1

Ok, Eclectablog:) Done…if I get crap from the GOP, can I send it to you? :) I think after what I wrote in the “other” box at the end….they’d be stupid to even THINK about sending me anything. By the way…you seem to have attracted a little “birther” that doesn’t understand nor want to understand what the ACA does. I think he may need a lesson in the truth of the ACA. You want to handle that. or me?

    • http://eclectablog.com Eclectablog

      I already get all their e-crap : )

I say we pile on the troll!

      • desertflower1

Yeah, but I never got their e-crap:) I’ll mark as “spam” and it can go right in the shitcan. I said my piece…thanks for the link.

  • delilahjones

I LOVE Obama care – leave it alone. I got a free colonoscopy that I could not otherwise afford this and will soon have a mammogram. Am I a taker – NO! My husband & I worked for over 30 yrs. but could not afford the retirement medical premiums offered by employers. My husband became eligible for Medicare (LOVE that too!) and I got a high deductible/co-pay policy with many exclusions. Obamacare has given me a chance to get the tests I needed with the high cancer rate in my family!

  • http://mollysmiddleamerica.blogspot.com/ Middle Molly

I went to the link. My “concern” was Republican obstruction and negativity towards a bill that will save the lives of tens of thousands of people who now die needlessly due to lack of health insurance.

  • OooSillyMe

I suggested garnishment of the wages of all who voted for repeal (39 x $55 million)…..
