By Popular Demand: GOP Rape Advisory Chart (Vol. IV)

Recently I said I was finally done with these things, but with yet ANOTHER idiotic, offensive statement by a Republican about rape victims the other day, I’ve been turned into Al Pacino in Godfather III*

I therefore present the Republican Rape Advisory Chart…Volume IV.

I’ve also included links to the complete 4-volume set; feel free to use/repost as appropriate, but please upload the image to your own server to keep the bandwidth hit low on mine. I also ask that you keep the “compiled by Brainwrap” text at the bottom.

*(“Just when I thought I was out…they pulled me back in.”)

GOP Rape Advisory Chart: Vol. 2

UPDATE: Volume III of the GOP Rape Advisory Chart can be found HERE

Wow. Yesterday, in light of the latest misogynistic idiocy by the Republican moron of the moment, Richard Mourdock, I decided to whip up a compilation of some of the more revolting statements on the subject of rape (often tied in with reproductive rights, but not always).

The response was, to put it mildly, overwhelming. In addition to being front-paged at DailyKos, I was invited to repost it here at Eclectablog, and the chart has been reposted, reblogged, retweeted, retumblred and re-whatevered thousands of times already, including the Democratic Underground, Alternet and even by Richard Dawkins and many, many more.…

Bain Capital-owned Domino’s Pizza makes a hah-hah rape joke with its new “NO IS THE NEW YES” campaign

Seriously? Don’t you have any women on your marketing team?

I was with a group of people who ordered Domino’s Pizza this past weekend. When the pizzas came, some of them, called “Artisanal Pizzas” came in this box in box with the phrase “NO IS THE NEW YES” in large font across the top. Almost everyone in the room of about a dozen people collectively went “WTF?”

Photo and discussion after the jump.

Major win for rape victims – Obama admin updates definition of rape

Today the Obama administration announced that it is updating the formal definition of rape. This move will help many rape victims who were previously unaccounted for achieve justice against their perpetrators and will more accurately reflect the extent of the problem of sexual crimes in our country.

Attorney General Eric Holder today announced revisions to the Uniform Crime Report’s (UCR) definition of rape, which will lead to a more comprehensive statistical reporting of rape nationwide. The new definition is more inclusive, better reflects state criminal codes and focuses on the various forms of sexual penetration understood to be rape. The new definition of rape is: “The penetration, no matter how slight, of the vagina or anus with any body part or object, or oral penetration by a sex organ of another person, without the consent of the victim.” The definition is used by the FBI to collect information from local law enforcement agencies about reported rapes.…

Glenn Greenwald and the national conversation about sexual assault & rape

My friend Extreme Liberal posted a piece at Angry Black Lady Chronicles awhile back titled “I was sexually assaulted as a child”. With Glenn Greenwald’s obscene comments about my good friend Imani, the Angry Black Lady, I thought now might be a good time to tell my own story of being sexually molested as a young boy.

Unlike Extreme Liberal’s assault, I was, in fact, not aware that I had actually been assaulted until many years later. You may well ask, “If you didn’t know you were assaulted, how can you say you were?” You can trust me when I tell you that I have asked myself that same question.…

MI Supremes say rape victim cannot sue sheriff dept where she was raped while in custody

Stuff like this is why it’s so goddam important to turn over that ballot on election day and vote for the Supreme Court justices. With Republicans in charge in Michigan, this is the kind of ruling you get:

The state’s highest court says a Fowlerville woman who was sexually assaulted by a deputy inside the Wayne County Jail cannot move forward with her civil lawsuit against the county and its Sheriff’s Department.

The Michigan Supreme Court ruled the county and Sheriff’s Department cannot be held “vicariously liable” for former Officer Reginald Johnson’s “unforeseeable criminal” behavior that was “committed outside the scope of the employment.”

The Fowlerville woman had been arrested in Livingston County in 2001 on an outstanding warrant for unpaid child support and was transferred to Wayne County Sheriff’s Department’s custody for an outstanding warrant on a probation violation.
