The Obama administration rules out raising Medicare eligibility age, cat food stocks plummet

Garment-rending about a Cat Food Commission just ran headlong into the Obama Reality

Despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth from the lefty concern trolls who are convinced that President Obama is going to feed your grandma a steady diet of cat food once she retires, the Obama administration today unequivocally ruled out raising the eligibility age for receiving Medicare.

I realize that this won’t quell the yammering from the left about how this President, a man with absolutely no history whatsoever of doing things to harm our country’s most vulnerable populations, is going to sell seniors down the river to cut the deficit. But I thought it would be worth, you know, getting the actual facts out there.

Details after the jump.

Blatant lying by Ryan/Romney continues – hits Obama for Medicare cuts in their own budget

These guys are out of control

As is becoming increasingly clear to anyone paying attention to the 2012 presidential election, the Ryan/Romney campaign has given up all hope of winning on the issues and on their record and have resorted to unprecedented lyingliterally making things up about President Obama and then putting it out as truth in stump speeches, online videos, television ads, appearances by surrogates on news programs and in fundraising emails.

There is a new one this week and it takes the LYING and HYPOCRISY to a new and rather incredible level.

The Ryan/Romney campaign is claiming that President Obama stripped $716 billion out of Medicare benefits “to pay for Obamacare”.

This is a lie.

Also, those same cuts, which I’ll describe in a moment, are in the Ryan budget plan that Mitt Romney has endorsed.

Details and more after the jump.

Think there’s no fraud in Medicare or Medicaid? Think again.

The Obama administration gets accused of “gutting” Medicare and Medicaid by stupidos who think they can’t achieve large savings by eliminating “waste and fraud”. There is, apparently, plenty of fraud to be “gutted” out of the system.

In Michigan this week, two dozen scumbags were indicted for a $60 million prescription fraud scheme.

Federal prosecutors have charged more than two dozen people, including 12 pharmacists and four physicians, with participating in a scheme to defraud Medicare and Medicaid of nearly $60 million in unwarranted prescriptions.

An indictment was unsealed Tuesday that accuses Babubhai “Bob” Patel, 49, a Canton Township pharmacist, of using his ownership in more than 20 Michigan pharmacies to facilitate the fraud.

Cracking down on Medicare fraud

When President Obama talks about part of Medicare reform being cracking down on fraud, this is what he is talking about:

In the largest federal Medicare fraud sting in the nation’s history, authorities arrested 111 doctors, nurses, physical therapists and others in Detroit and eight other cities Thursday for allegedly submitting more than $225 million in bogus bills.

The latest indictments in Detroit — where federal agencies said they are continuing their fraud investigations — involve 21 people charged with trying to bilk Medicare of more than $23 million, often for care never rendered.

For example:

  • Surya Nallani, a Birmingham geriatrician, was out of the country when she allegedly billed Medicare for $441,852 in home care services that required her to be present when care is given, the indictment charges.

Republicans consider privatizing Medicare

I know this is no surprise but Republicans are considering privatizing Medicare.

Months after they hammered Democrats for cutting Medicare, House Republicans are debating whether to relaunch their quest to privatize the health program for seniors. House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., is testing support for his idea to replace Medicare with a fixed payment to buy a private medical plan from a menu of coverage options.

Party leaders will determine if the so-called voucher plan will be part of the budget Republicans put forward in the spring.

They want to give elderly Medicare recipients coupons. And force them to shop around for the best medical coverage.…
