By Popular Demand: GOP Rape Advisory Chart (Vol. IV)

Recently I said I was finally done with these things, but with yet ANOTHER idiotic, offensive statement by a Republican about rape victims the other day, I’ve been turned into Al Pacino in Godfather III*

I therefore present the Republican Rape Advisory Chart…Volume IV.

I’ve also included links to the complete 4-volume set; feel free to use/repost as appropriate, but please upload the image to your own server to keep the bandwidth hit low on mine. I also ask that you keep the “compiled by Brainwrap” text at the bottom.

*(“Just when I thought I was out…they pulled me back in.”)

Birth Control Extremism is a Gift to Women

If women needing birth control to treat endometriosis makes you think about sex, there are medications for that.

There are still at it. They’re still implying Sandra Fluke is a slut. They’re still betraying they have no idea how birth control works. They still think getting a prescription to treat endometriosis is some luxury you’re being “given” at their expense.

As Secretary of State Hillary Clinton recently said, “Why extremists always focus on women remains a mystery to me. But they all seem to. It doesn‘t matter what country they’re in or what religion they claim. They all want to control women.”

She seems to be wondering two things:

1.

How to Use Twitter

Please RT!

- @RobDelaney

Apparently I’ve been waiting my whole life for Twitter.

Allen Ginsberg had to roam to streets to see the best minds of his generation destroyed by madness. I do it through a retina display. And politics has been waiting for Twitter, too.

Last year, Politico’s Ben Smith recognized last year that Twitter was draining the life from his blog. “What I’m doing right now is just incredibly old school,” he said. “I might as well have ink all over my fingers and be setting type.”

Since then Smith has joined BuzzFeed, which is attempting to harness the addictive and instantly viral nature of Twitter to cover the 2012 in a way that makes news and breaks news.…

The GOP Can’t Deny Its Extremism (Anymore)

America just isn’t that into the 1 percent

We let the GOP pretend they’re for small government, even though they don’t believe in the separation of uterus and state.

We let them say they’re conservative, when they want to pre-emptively start new wars.

We let them say that they care about the American Dream, as they try to destroy the fair progressive taxation that created the middle class.

We let the GOP pretend they’re patriotic when they believe that patriotism ends when the campaign begins, and the campaign never ends.

We let them try to turn words like “elite” and “birth control” and “college” into insults to serve a 1% that indulges all three in epic amounts.…

Live LOLing the GOP Debate. Tonight. 8 PM EST/ 5 PM PST. CNN.

A crisis counselor will be on hand for John King USA

Sit down. I have news.

This will likely be the last GOP debate of 2012.  And it’s a sit down debate. Yes. The last one is a sit-down affair. Or as Newt Gingrich calls it, home court.

Never again will we see the adept intellects the GOP can gather to oppose Barack Obama stand awkwardly at each other’s sides, trying not to catch a whiff of Newt.

This is the end, my only friend. Why aren’t you crying? Ah. You’re still in denial.  Elizabeth Kübler-Ross assures me you’ll soon be filled with anger: How the fuck have sat through 22 of these?

GOP Birth Control Mania Peaks

The 2012 election exists to prove that the GOP can do worse than Sarah Palin.

By the great @LizzWinstead.

On MSNBC this afternoon, Rick Santorum’s mega-baker Foster Friess (delicious name) said, “Back in my day, they used Bayer Aspirin for contraceptives. The gals put it between their knees and it wasn’t that costly.” MSNBC’s Andrea Mitchell, who was conducting the interview, paused to grab her fan and soothe her sudden case of the vapors.

Meanwhile, the elders of Salem were convened on Capitol Hill by House Oversight Committee Chairmen Darrell Issa to look into the mandate for employers to provide women birth control.…

GOP Talking Points Locked in Theater of the Absurd

Remember how the GOP got everyone all enraged at the deficits they created?

Who did the GOP instantly blame for the costs of two wars, trillions in tax breaks, completely unfunded, wasteful expansions of Medicare plus an economic crash that suddenly dwarfed their own massive failures abroad? The man who inherited the costs.

With a TV channel and apoplectic emails repeating the same talking points over and over, the GOP managed to make deficits the issue from 2009-2010. It was brilliant. Instead of focusing on how to fix the mess they created, they blamed the mess on the guy with a mop.…

How Rick Santorum Could Beat Mitt Romney in Michigan

Metaphorically

Rick Santorum should believe in God. The fact that he’s still in this race is a tribute to some higher power or, more likely, the weakness of the GOP’s bench. It’s also a tribute to his appeal to the sort of Republican who hates both birth control and abortion—breeders, as @Azrielenish calls them.

Now, I see that Santorum is about to make a huge mistake and focus on jobs. HUGE. MISTAKE.

He’s never going the win the argument that he knows money better the Ritchie Mitt, even if Mitt is and was dead wrong about saving Detroit.…

Setting the record straight about Pete Hoekstra’s racist and inaccurate ad

Lies, damn lies. Take your pick.

The racist ad by Senatorial candidate Pete Hoekstra was not just racist. It is based on a complete lie.

Here’s what is said in his ad by a woman who is clearly faking her Asian accent in what Hoekstra is calling “satire”:

“Thank you, Michigan Senator Debbie Spenditnow. Debbie spend so much American money. You borrow more and more from us. Your economy get very weak. Ours get very good. We take your jobs. Thank you, Debbie Spenditnow.”

Here’s the thing: WE DO NOT BORROW “MORE AND MORE” FROM CHINA. Period. That, my friends, is a lie.…

GOP seeks to end limits on ALL corporate campaign donations including to parties & candidates

At the moment, as egregious as the Citizens United Supreme Court decision was, it’s still illegal for corporations to give directly to candidates or political parties. If the GOP has its way, that will end.

The century-old ban on corporate donations to federal political campaigns should be junked as unconstitutional, the Republican National Committee argued in a legal brief filed Tuesday that could lead to new attacks on the GOP as beholden to corporate money.

The GOP brief filed with a federal appeals court contends that the ban which became law back in 1908 violates the First Amendment in light of recent Supreme Court rulings, including the 2010 Citizens United decision which allowed unlimited donations to independent-expenditure groups.
