Terrific Debbie Stabenow campaign video for your viewing pleasure

That’s the way, uh-huh, uh-huh, I like it. Uh-huh.

Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow released this awesome campaign video at the Michigan Democratic Party Nominating Convention last Saturday and now it’s available for everyone to see.

What I love most about it is that it is POSITIVE. It’s a sharp contrast to Pete Hoekstra (who?) and his racist, xenophobic, lying ad of yestermonth.

You can contribute to Senator Stabenow’s campaign HERE. Her main campaign website is HERE.

The Death of a Campaign: Pete Hoekstra continues to pay for his racist campaign ad

Karma’s a bitch, eh, buddy?

Pete Hoekstra’s “Debbie Spenditnow” Superbowl ad is the gift that keeps on giving.

To Democrats.

Poll results over the past few weeks show Hoekstra sinking like a rock:

Image/data from Talking Points Memo Polltracker

This week, he got more good tragic news for his campaign: among registered voters, Stabenow now leads Hoekstra 53% to 32%.

But the best news for Democrats? This:

Yup. According to the Detroit Free Press, Hoekstra is crushing his opponents with 48% of the vote in their latest poll. The nearest contender is “Undecided” with 40%, followed by Clark Durant with 5%.…

Pete Hoekstra pays for his racist ad, Debbie Stabenow now up by 14 points

Karma IS a bitch

This makes me smile:

Debbie Stabenow’s taken her biggest lead yet in 4 polls of the Michigan Senate race PPP has conducted dating back to December of 2010. She now leads Pete Hoekstra by 14 points, 51-37, and has an even wider 17 point advantage over Clark Durant at 50-33. In 3 previous polls Stabenow led Hoekstra by an average of just 7 points and on the most recent one, in July, her lead was 9.

What’s interesting is that Stabenow’s approval numbers have barely budged at all over the last 6 months. Over the summer we found her at 46/40, and now she’s at 47/41.

Pete Hoekstra pulls racist website down, Debbie Stabenow raises over $150K from it

Debbie Stabenow: 1, Pete Hoekstra: 0

After the devastating news coverage of the past week over the racist ad and website put up by Pete Hoekstra, he has now redirected the Chinese-themed www.debbiespenditnow.com to his own website www.petespenditnot.com. The YouTube video is still up, however, with over a million views. Comments and ratings are still turned off for the very obvious reasons. On his new site is a new ad without the anti-China references.

Meanwhile, a money bomb for Senator Debbie Stabenow based on reaction to Hoekestra’s odious ad and website resulted in a big haul: over $150,000.…

Racist Hoekstra ad reframes the conversation, but not how he wanted it to

Missed it by THAT much

Pete Hoekstra is nearly giddy about all the attention his racist ad had garnered.

Hoekstra, a former Republican congressman from Holland, stood his ground Monday, saying the ad did what he wanted: It drew a clear contrast between himself and Democratic U.S. Sen. Debbie Stabenow. [...]

“We knew we were taking an aggressive approach on this, but we’re in a time when people are fed up with the spending and we wanted to capture that frustration,” Hoekstra said. “It hits Debbie smack-dab between the eyes on the area where she is most vulnerable.”

Let’s have a look at the headlines to see if he has, indeed, reshaped the conversation to talk about Debbie Stabenow’s spendthrift ways.…

More on (Moron?) Pete Hoekstra’s racist Super Bowl ad – UPDATED

You’re in a hole, Pete. Stop digging.

The fallout from Senatorial candidate and racist Pete Hoekstra and his offensive, xenophobic political ad continued unabated today.

Another GOP consultant, Mike Murphy, tweeted that the ad was “really, really dumb”. According the Washington Post, “Foreign Policy magazine managing editor Blake Hounshell called the ad ‘despicable.’”

Ironically, the ad, which seems to blame U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow for the outsourcing that is sending jobs over seas, was not produced in Michigan. Rather, it was made by media strategist Fred Davis of California-based Strategic Perception Inc.. In other words, he outsourced it to another state.…

Pete Hoekstra airs offensive, racist ad during Super Bowl XLVI – UPDATED

Who thought THAT was a good idea?

[NOTE: I have posted updates to this ongoing story HERE.]

Twitter Pete” Hoekstra, the man who wasn’t even smart enough to buy his own domain during his run for Governor of Michigan, ran an ad during this year’s Super Bowl that was so blatantly racist and offensive to Asians that even GOP consultants are flinching.

The portrayal of a young Asian woman speaking broken English in a Super Bowl ad being run by U.S. Senate candidate Pete Hoekstra against Michigan incumbent Debbie Stabenow is bringing charges of racial insensitivity.

GOP consultant Nick De Leeuw flat-out scolded the Holland Republican for the ad.

Michigan tea partiers can’t decide who is the boss of the tea party

Heh, heh. There’s a funny thing about the confluence of power and a deliberate decision not to have a leader: someone is going to step up and grab the reins eventually. And that’s where the fun begins.

The tea party effort to unite behind one conservative U.S. Senate candidate is taking shape, with dates set for a debate and straw poll convention [...]

Invitations are being sent to all eight GOP candidates for a Jan. 14 debate at Central Michigan University, organizers announced. Two leaders from each qualified tea party group will be invited to participate in a Feb. 25 straw poll at CMU to determine who wins the tea party endorsement.

Senators Stabenow and Levin urge Rick Snyder to reconsider Emergency Manager law

In a letter to Michigan Governor Rick Snyder, Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin are urging the governor to reconsider the Emergency Manager law, citing constitutional concerns and its divisive nature.

December 14, 2011

Govemor Rick Snyder
P.O. Box 3001i
Lansing, Michigan 48909

Dear Governor Snyder,
We are writing to express our concern regarding the state’s Emergency Financial Manager law. We are deeply concerned about how this law is igniting tensions in our local communities and dividing our state.

Michigan’s strength is its diversity. Throughout our state’s history we have thrived when we work together to solve problems, This law runs counter to this cooperative spirit and is sending the wrong message to the rest of the country about what our state stands for.
