I saw this sign today about an hour and a half northeast of Houston, Texas.

Yes, it says “USA UNDER SEIGE BY FOREIGN LEADER — OBAMA”.

And yes, “siege” is spelled wrong.

Michigan Republican Tom Casperson opened his mouth and removed all doubt about his status as a tea party fool this week when he answered “don’t know” when asked by radio show host Michael Patrick Shiels if President Obama was born in the USA. Casperson joins the ranks of the 37% of Michigan Republican Party delegates that believe President Obama was not born a US citizen, an astonishing figure given that he has released both the long-form and the short-form versions of his birth certificate. There’s also the fact that a birth announcement appeared in a Hawaiian newspaper the day he was born.

Pay no attention to the birther behind the curtain

Every report on Romney’s appearance in Commerce, Michigan today screamed BIRTHER! The top story on NPR was about it. It’s all anyone is talking about. So, in an attempt to distract people from the horrible outfall from his moronic statement, Romney’s campaign sent out an email at 3:32 p.m. this afternoon quintupling down on the lie that President Obama has removed the work requirement from welfare.

In the email is a link to a video that cites an op-ed from a newspaper that now describes the claim as “debunked”.

Mitt Romney actually said this today in Commerce, Michigan:

“Now, I love being home in this place where Ann and I were raised, where both of us were born. Ann was born in Henry Ford Hospital, I was born in Harper Hospital. No one has ever asked to see my birth certificate. They know that this is the place that we were born and raised.”

Red meat for the tea partiers of southeastern Michigan, that’s all that is.
