Romney Hood: stealing from the Middle Class to give to the rich

At a campaign stop in Stamford, Connecticut yesterday, President Obama referring to Mitt Romney’s economic plan, the one that pays for historic tax cuts for the super wealthy by increasing taxes on average Americans, renamed Mitt Romney “Romney Hood”. He’s a reverse Robin Hood, said the president, stealing from Middle Class Americans to give to the very rich in our country.

It was brilliant.

Success doesn’t happen by accident

I’m getting ready to head to Detroit to the American Federation of Teachers (AFT) national conference at the Cobo Center where Anne and I will get to meet Vice President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden this afternoon. It’s a significant day because we are now officially 100 days away from the general election where America will repudiate the Republican party and its ties to wealth & corporate power and give our vote to the team that works for average Americans — Biden & Obama.

In 2008, Anne and I worked tirelessly to get Senator Barack Obama elected. After the election, Anne wanted to do more. Realizing that she had literally thousands of photos of people who had attended Obama rallies in Michigan, she put together a photomosaic of then President-elect Barack Obama. Titled “Out of Many, We Are One”, it is composed of thousands of faces of people she photographed that summer and fall. She posted it on Flickr and, much to her surprise, it was picked up by Time magazine. In January of 2009, it ran as a full two-page spread in their Person of the Year issue.

The Obama campaign has a new ad out that’s spectacular. Rather than presenting you with a lot of charts or facts, it features a calm, relaxed and confident President Obama looking straight at you. Light piano music plays in the background. He simply explains to essential differences between him and Mitt Romney.

These people are sick and depraved

29-year old Alex Okrent collapsed in a Chicago OFA office yesterday and died. Yahoo has the story HERE.

What is taking place in the comments section of that story is enough to make you vomit. Some people are even insinuating that he was killed by the Obama campaign.

I’ll warn you that some of the comments (after the jump) are beyond the pale and extremely offensive.

You have a strange way of showing your patriotism, Mitt

The Obama campaign has a killer new ad out today that will be running in Colorado, Florida, Iowa, North Carolina, New Hampshire, Nevada, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. It’s called “Firms” and highlights just how un-American Mitt Romney has behaved as Governor and as the head of Bain Capital.

Romney’s would be an historic presidency — for all the wrong reasons

Relevations this past week that Mitt Romney is very likely a tax cheat are making major waves. The Obama campaign is, of course, using this to their best advantage.

Today they released an online video by Obama campaign National Press Secretaey Ben LaBolt that, in plain, easy-to-digest language, eviscerates Romney for his hiding of income in offshore accounts in well-known tax havens like Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

This Saturday, June 30th, 2012, Democratic National Committee Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz will be in Ann Arbor to kick of a Day of Action canvass and phonebank for Obama for America (OFA), the campaign to re-elect President Obama.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., the event includes both phonebanking and canvassing and YOU are invited. Before things get started, Ms. Wasserman Schultz will speak to volunteers to let them know what is at stake this year and how important their role is in the 2012 campaign.

Not just the past — the past WEEK

It hasn’t been a good week or two for Mitt Romney. His past, which he seems to think nobody will look at, think about, or care about, is beginning to catch up with him.

Between his record as a failed job-creator as a governor and a successful jobs-destroyer as a businessman as well as a rare glimpse at just who he will be beholden to if he is elected, Mitt Romney has a severe and awesome image problem to overcome.

One I doubt that he will.

Quit SAYING that! People will think things are getting better.

The Romney campaign wants Florida Governor Rick Scott to quit talking about how great the economy is in Florida right now. Knowing that an improved economic picture kills Romney’s only talking point in this election, they simply can NOT have that kind of talk.
