Ruben Marquez secures enough signatures to get on the ballot to challenge Tim Walberg in MI-07

Let’s roll!

As I have reported before, Jackson County Democratic Party Chair Ruben Marquez has entered the race to challenge Tim “The Original Tea Partier” Walberg in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District.

Marquez announced after Republican Joe Schwarz declined to run as a Democrat. This gave him less than two weeks to secure the required 1,000 petitions signatures to get on the ballot for the August primary.

He was successful.

A legitimate Democrat finally announces for Michigan’s 7th Congressional District — Ruben Marquez

Hallelujah!

As I wrote last Thursday, Republican Joe Schwarz, who was being wooed by the Democratic Party to run in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District on their behalf, decided last week NOT to run. This left only Kurt Haskell as the only candidate on the Democratic side and he is “a conspiracy theorist who worries about ‘government overreach’, talks about cutting taxes in the middle of a recession and isn’t a proponent an essential part of the Affordable Care Act.”

Well, on Friday, those of us Democrats in MI-07 got some very good news…

Republican Joe Schwarz declines to run as a Dem against Walberg in MI-07, Haskell only announced candidate

Seriously? There’s not a single legitimate Democrat in MI-07?

Contrary to what I was told by multiple sources last month, Republican Joe Schwarz has decided NOT to run as a Democrat against incumbent Republican Tim Walberg in Michigan’s 7th Congressional District. Schwarz was being recruited by Michigan Democrats to cross over despite his career as a Republican.

What we’re left with is … well … follow me over the jump and down the rabbit hole.

The latest steaming pile of excrement from Congressman Tim Walberg

I don’t what I did to deserve this idiot as my Representative to Congress. Here’s his latest lie-filled drivel:

More than two and a half years after the Obama Administration’s trillion dollar “stimulus” package, the Department of Labor reported that the unemployment rate remains unchanged this month at 9.1 percent. Yet, the Administration continues to undermine job creation with the triple threat of higher taxes, excessive regulation and more “stimulus” spending. I remain committed to fight for an economic environment that encourages job creation. This week the House passed legislation which will halt a new, costly, job destroying regulation issued by the Environment Protection Agency (EPA).…

Rep Tim Walberg brings jobs fair to southern Michigan – blames regulation for lack of employer participation

This past week, Rep. Tim Walberg (MI-07) sponsored a jobs fair. So far, so good. I’ve been waiting for him to do something, anything related to jobs so I view this sort of thing favorably. Unfortunately, the fair doesn’t appear to have been very successful.

On Wednesday, I hosted a Job Resource Fair at the Jackson County Fair Grounds. This event gave companies across the district a chance to connect with an estimated 600+ job seekers. While visiting with job seekers I thought, “How great it would be if at the next Job Resource Fair we could reduce the number of attendees and raise the number of employers?” We need to encourage job creation for those who want to be employed and provide a service.…

Tim Walberg doesn’t want to hear from you about JOBS!

When this year’s crop of Republicans got elected, I went to their fledgling websites and looked for a section about “Jobs”. I didn’t find any which was pretty shocking. But, at that point, most of them were using the same basic boilerplate site, probably provided to them by the party or the government or something. So, I thought I should wait awhile for them to personalize their sites and most of them have done that.

I went to my Congressman’s site this morning, the site of Tim Walberg. I wanted to ask him to pass the job plan President Obama talked about last night (I know, I know, I’m wasting precious bandwidth on Quixotic ventures…) Here’s what I saw on his email contact page:

Buyers Remorse Protest at Tim Walberg’s Jackson office a success

Here are a few shots from the Working America protest in front of the office of MI-07 Representative Tim Walberg yesterday. About 20 protesters showed up and they delivered over 400 buyers remorse cards.

Tim Walberg doesn’t understand what “religious” means. And he’s still a birther.

Oh, for cryin’ out loud. I cannot believe this idiot is my representative in Washington, D.C. He apparently, has no clue what “religious” means and, guess what, he’s still a freaking birther.

Walberg criticized President Obama for his approach to defending Israel, saying Obama, “doesn’t get it.”

Invoking what he called “biblical history and imperative,” Walberg said, “I want God’s blessing on this country and that blessing that’s on Israel as God’s chosen people will be carried out to this country as well. That’s not religious, that’s historical and I will stand with that,” Walberg said.

“That’s not religious”? Eh?…

Michiganders Express Buyer’s Remorse, Deliver “Return Ballots” to Rep. Tim Walberg’s Office

From my friends at Working America:

Working America members to hold lawmakers accountable for ignoring jobs crisis.

On Thursday August 18th, Working America members and organizers will gather at a “Buyer’s Remorse” booth in Jackson, MI to accept “return” ballots from Michiganders who are disgusted with the broken promises of Rep. Walberg who told voters that he would focus on creating jobs and strengthening the economy while in office.

The return booth – one of several being installed across the country this month while federal lawmakers are home for an August recess – will provide Michiganders the opportunity to hold Rep.

Tim (“The Original Tea Partier”) Walberg blames Tea Party Downgrade on Obama

You gotta figure it would take a guy like Tim Walberg (MI-07), who calls himself “The Original Tea Partier”, to say something as patently ridiculous as THIS:

“This downgrade is the result of a history of failure in leadership and fiscal responsibility by the President,” Walberg, R-Tipton, said in a statement.

“We have responded to the people’s call to action and passed significant deficit reduction plans through the House, and we remain willing to make the tough decisions needed to put our fiscal house in order. Let’s use this moment to fix our nation’s fiscal problems. I stand ready to work with those who seek the best America for the next generation.”

It’s hard for me to believe, even a year and a half after the election, that this clown is my representative in Congress…

You know, it’s easy to say such utter tripe when your biggest fans will swallow it hook, line and sinker.…
