Romney campaign tries to bully the Boston Globe, Globe tells them to pound sand

Romney campaign tries to bully the Boston Globe, Globe tells them to pound sand

Well, that didn’t go as planned…

The Romney campaign, smarting from a devastating piece by the Boston Globe this week, decided to pushback and sent them a letter demanding a retraction.

The Globe told them to stuff it.

The emails from the Romney campaign and the Globe after the jump.

The hypocrisy of Mackinac Center co-founder Richard McLellan on “corporate speech” and “buying elections”

The hypocrisy of Mackinac Center co-founder Richard McLellan on “corporate speech” and “buying elections”

Money is not speech & corporations are not people if they disagree with me… Earlier this year, Governor Rick Snyder did an endrun around the state legislature by entering into an “interlocal agreement” with Canada to build a new bridge in Michigan between our two countries. The owner of one of the current bridges, Matty Moroun, has spent enormous sums […]

Romney’s NAACP speech was a set-up – he intended to get booed

Mitt Romney: plumbing new depths in cynical pandering

Earlier today, I wrote about Mitt Romney getting booed during his appearance at the NAACP annual meeting in Houston. In a update, I referenced Steve Benen’s suggestion that he was intentionally provocative.

As it turns out, Benen was right. Proof after the jump.

Wisconsin Senator introduced bill classifying single parenting as “child abuse”

You think the War on Women isn’t real or doesn’t affect you? Think again.

Wisconsin Republican Senator Glenn Grothman has completely gone off the rails in the GOP’s War On Women. Back in March, he introduced legislation that classifies single parents and other non-married couples as contributing to child abuse.

All the offensive and gory details after the jump.

Must-see Obama campaign video portrays Romney as the Gordon Gekko he is

Must-see Obama campaign video portrays Romney as the Gordon Gekko he is

Romney’s would be an historic presidency — for all the wrong reasons

Relevations this past week that Mitt Romney is very likely a tax cheat are making major waves. The Obama campaign is, of course, using this to their best advantage.

Today they released an online video by Obama campaign National Press Secretaey Ben LaBolt that, in plain, easy-to-digest language, eviscerates Romney for his hiding of income in offshore accounts in well-known tax havens like Switzerland, Bermuda and the Cayman Islands.

Watch it after the jump.

GOPocrisy ALERT: Romney spokesperson whines about Obama going negative when that’s ALL their campaign does

GOPocrisy ALERT: Romney spokesperson whines about Obama going negative when that’s ALL their campaign does

Oh, THAT’S rich

Today, the Obama campaign did a full-court press on Romney’s offshore tax havens where he hides money to reduce his taxes significantly. We’ll have more to say about that in upcoming posts but, in an act of utter GOPocrisy, Romney campaign spokesperson Andrea Saul went on a whining spree about the Obama campaign going negative.

This, from a campaign that has done NOTHING but negative attacks on the president.

Former Michigan Republican Party spokesman suggests it’s time for armed insurrection after Obamacare is upheld (updated)

Shoot ’em up, shoot ’em up, rah, rah, rah!

For some on the right, this whole “every American having access to healthcare coverage” thing is just too goddam much. I wrote yesterday about some of the instant freakout responses. Today we have another and it’s a doozy.

Former Republican Party spokesman and Lansing “civil rights” attorney Matthew Davis sent out a press release titled “Is Armed Rebellion Now Justified?”.

His press release and more after the jump.

Supreme Court rules to uphold Obamacare, the right goes completely freaking nuts

Supreme Court rules to uphold Obamacare, the right goes completely freaking nuts

Going off of the rails on the crazy train…

It’s hard to believe that it’s been over two years since the Affordable Care Act, our beloved Obamacare, was signed into law. After all, the sky is still up, right?

Today’s Supreme Court ruling upholding the constitutionality of Obamacare is exactly what happens when the right challenges the constitutionality of a law that was supported, endorsed, and championed by a president who is a constitutional scholar: they get their asses handed to them. The result has been predictable, even if the SCOTUS ruling was not.

Much more after the jump.

Anti-Democracy group asks Republican Sec. of State to throw out Protect Our Jobs citizens’ referendum

Anti-Democracy group asks Republican Sec. of State to throw out Protect Our Jobs citizens’ referendum

When you don’t have the votes, you cheat

An anti-democracy group ironically called Citizens Protecting Michigan’s Constitution is asking Republican Secretary of State Ruth Johnson to throw away the petitions containing nearly 700,000 signatures to keep the Protect Our Jobs referendum off the November ballot, saying:

“We believe that you have a clear legal duty to reject the filed petition and to refuse to further process it, canvass the signatures or to refer the petition to the Board of State Canvassers for certification to the ballot.”

Romney’s Bain Capital owned overseas outsourcing specialists that helped companies export jobs for profit

Romney’s Bain Capital owned overseas outsourcing specialists that helped companies export jobs for profit

GOPocrisy, thy name is Mitt Romney

Mitt Romney has been talking a lot on the campaign trail about stemming the tide of jobs moving overseas to places like China. As it turns out, his company Bain Capital, the one he says gives him the job creating experience that he needs to be the President of the United States, owned companies that were specialists in outsourcing jobs overseas and helped other companies to do so more efficiently and profitably.
