I became a journalist almost 17 years ago because I wanted to dig for the truth and tell important stories, especially in politics. In the decade-plus I’ve spent in Lansing, I’ve watched most of my Capitol press corps colleagues retire, leave for better-paying jobs or get laid off.

There are so many issues to cover and stories to tell — and not enough reporters left to do so. So even monumental problems like the Flint water crisis sometimes are neglected while reporters run ragged chasing down other stories — while far too much damage is being done.

At Eclectablog, you’ll find stories others aren’t covering, like Amy Lynn Smith’s series on trans voices. And nobody keeps tabs better on what U.S. Education Secretary Betsy DeVos is up to, because our team of Michigan-based bloggers have been watching her playbook for years.

I’m not great at asking for money, but it’s easy when it’s something I believe in. Eclectablog is a great resource for the progressive community in Michigan and across the country. Please consider donating today.

There are two other ways to help, as well. First, you can use the handy PayPal form at the top of the right sidebar to make a one-time donation via Paypal in the amount of your choice. Second, you can send a check (which avoids Paypal taking out a percentage of your donation) to Chris Savage, P.O. Box 32, Dexter, MI 48130. Please make the check payable to “Eclectablog”.

Thanks for your support.
