DON’T MISS IT! – Clean Water Action’s 2016 Great Lake Awards Celebration next Wednesday, April 13, 2016

by

Next Wednesday, April 13, 2016, Clean Water Action Michigan will hold their 2016 Great Lake Awards Celebration. As in past years, they will be honoring a number of people who have contributed to the important cause of clean water in the Great Lakes State and continue to make waves — keeping the fight to protect Michigan’s most important resources in motion!

Two of this year’s award recipients are personal friends of mine so, as a past recipient of their “Great Lakes Guardian” Award, I am particularly excited about it!

  • State Representative Jeff Irwin – Jeff Irwin is a third-term state representative who has focused on investing in education, equal opportunity for all Michiganders, and protecting our Michigan’s environment.
  • Anne Woiwode – The first executive director of Sierra Club, one of the founding members of the Michigan Environmental Council, and a lifelong environmental leader.
  • Brewery Vivant – The first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified micro brewery in the world. They’re known for their historic setting, harkening back to old world brewing, as well as for their passion for beer, food and sustainability.

This year’s theme is Water in Motion — “Just as a waterfall gains its strength from the resistance, the movement in which you have been an integral part, continues to grow despite the ongoing challenges facing us in protecting our water.”

There will be Michigan beer, cocktails, food, music and a silent auction.

The event takes place on Wednesday, April 13th (Festivities begin at 5:30 p.m.; awards presentation begin at 7:30 p.m.) at The Cadillac Room, 1115 S. Washington in Lansing.
