ACTION: Join Lady Parts Justice League and thank women’s clinics on #PostcardSunday Nov. 29

by

There’s no easier way to let women’s healthcare clinics and abortion providers know they have your support.

All of us who support a woman’s right to choose and access a full range of healthcare services without the threat of violence were horrified by the terrorist attack on a Planned Parenthood clinic in Colorado Springs on Friday. It’s now clear the gunman had a vendetta against Planned Parenthood, as he was seen uttering “no more baby parts” when he was arrested — clearly a response to the outrageous lies being told about Planned Parenthood following the release of heavily edited videos rife with falsehoods.

But the day after the shooting, the men and women who work at women’s healthcare clinics across the country returned to their jobs, determined to show that they are not afraid — and will continue to provide their patients with the care they need.

Let’s show them we’ve got their backs. Making a donation to Planned Parenthood or another clinic is awesome, but not everyone has the cash. So Lady Parts Justice League has named November 29 #PostcardSunday and their crew is spending the day writing postcards to every single abortion provider in America.

You can join them! All it costs is the postage to mail a postcard — and, if you’re like me, you have some spare postcards lying around. What matters is that you send a message of thanks to the hard-working staff at these clinics. Please, do not send letters, because evil people have been known to send dangerous items in letters to clinics.

Just write up a postcard or two (or 20), and before you pop it in the mail snap a photo and post it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram or the social media platform of your choice with the hashtags #ThankBank and #PostcardSunday. You’ll be showing your support to the world — and trust me, I know from having spoken to clinic staff that a simple “thank you” means so much.

Not familiar with Lady Parts Justice League? They’re part of the Lizz Winstead-helmed Lady Parts Justice, and here’s a brief bio:

We are a rapid response creative production team, made up of comedy writers, comedians and activists, on call 24/7 to make videos, artistic memes and create national actions that respond instantly to the breaking news surrounding reproductive justice issues. We will within minutes, or hours, blast the perpetrators dispensing damaging information about abortion, crisis pregnancy centers, birth control as well as taking down those who shame and stigmatize women for wanting, having and demanding safe and healthy sex lives on their own terms. …

LPJL also helps expose the bad guys on a local level, traveling around the country, bringing together, comedians, artists and reproductive rights activists to form their own local leagues and working with them to create fun and outrageous ways to expose the hometown extremists who are fighting against everything from access to sex education to shaming women for daring to demand justice for rape or equal pay for equal work.

#PostcardSunday is just one more way Lady Parts Justice League is living up to its mission of supporting women’s clinics.

Ready to get writing? Here’s a list of all the abortion providers in America. Start with your local clinics and go from there. Then just imagine the smiling faces of clinic staff when they are flooded with messages of gratitude.
