Barack Obama, Bwahahahahaha, President Obama — January 21, 2015 at 4:29 pm

Was Obama’s “I know ’cause I won both of ’em” slam against the GOP during the State of the Union Address an ad lib? Oh, please.

Last night during his State of the Union Address, President Obama had some fun. You could tell he was feeling freed to be himself since he no longer has to run for office and because, frankly, despite his rhetoric otherwise, there isn’t going to be a lot of “working together” with Republicans.

In other words, he doesn’t have to fake it anymore.

The best line of the night, of course, was this one:

I have no more campaigns to run. My only agenda…

[INSULTING APPLAUSE FROM REPUBLICANS]

I know ’cause I won both of ’em.

Republicans are pissing and moaning about being tweaked like that but, member of Congress, please. The GOP has been disrespectful to Barack Obama from the very first day. Who can forget Joe Wilson’s infamously insulting “YOU LIE!” ejaculation during President Obama’s first State of the Union Address? It really all went downhill from there.

When President Obama said, “I have no more campaigns to run,” he knew that some of the Republicans would act like the children that they are and applaud wildly. And they did. His next line, though it may not have been on the teleprompter or in the preview of his speech that people in the media received (I checked, it’s not in there), you can just about bet that he knew they would treat him this way and had the next line in his hip pocket just for the occasion.

This is the face of a man who knows his opponent has just stepped into the trap that he has carefully laid:

President Obama has wicked comedic timing. He’s proven that time and again since he was elected. There’s no way he didn’t have that line ready to go, to be delivered at precisely the moment that it would get the biggest laugh line.

It was a thing of beauty.

And all of the Republicans who are whining about how it made working together with the President impossible, give us all a damn break puh-lease. You have no intention of working with President Obama now or ever and you never did. You know. I know it. Pretty much the whole country knows it. Even President Obama knows it.

Only now, he doesn’t have to give a damn.
