Save the date: Join Lady Parts Justice for fun activist events nationwide on Sept. 27

by

Michigan is one of the states throwing a public party — or you can get an LPJ party kit and host your own bash.

Are you sick of watching politicians trample all over women’s reproductive rights and the choices they make about their bodies? Do you want to elect officials who actually think women should be treated equally and with respect? Then plan to join a Lady Parts Justice V to Shining V event near you on September 27.

Created by top comedians, writers and performers including co-founder Lizz Winstead, Lady Parts Justice is “a national movement using humor & outrage to remove bodily autonomy-hating LOCAL politicians in 2014 & beyond.”

If you’re a regular Eclectablog reader, you know why there’s a need for women and men to stand united against the barrage of anti-women policies popping up all over the country. But to increase awareness, Lady Parts Justice has made a series of hilarious videos, including state-specific ones like this Michigan edition:

On September 27, Lady Parts Justice is hosting its first V to Shining V Palooza: People from every state will throw parties to celebrate women’s awesomeness, drink, laugh and strategize ways to get rid of politicians who undermine women — like getting voters to the polls and arming them with the facts about policies that hurt women. Hey, there’s no law against having fun in the process.

Throwing your own party is a piece of cake. There’s even a party kit you can order from Lady Parts Justice with everything you need to throw a great bash. Okay, so you’ll have to provide your own cake, but LPJ makes the rest easy.

Plus, there are public parties being hosted in a number of states — including Michigan! Get more details on the states and performers scheduled so far HERE.

The Michigan event will be held at The Park Bar in Detroit from 2-5 pm. Special guests include Holly Miranda, Amy Gore of The Gore Gore Girls, the hilarious Lianna Carrera and a diverse array of other great performers, feminist/LGBT/social justice activists and elected officials to be announced soon. Plus, there will be games, prizes and lots more. Details are still in development, but watch this space, RSVP via the Facebook event page or sign up for notifications from Lady Parts Justice to stay in the loop. You can also raise your hand to volunteer via the LPJ website. (Reminder: You don’t need to have lady parts to join in the fun. The more diverse, the merrier!)

In the meantime, find out more about V to Shining V and how you can get involved with this quick, very entertaining video:
