Senator seeks to make sure barber poles aren’t used incorrectly (and, no, I’m not kidding)

Thank gods someone is protecting us from errant barber poles

I actually thought this was a joke when I read it this morning:

As the historic barber pole has become an increasingly popular symbol, one lawmaker wants to make sure its use isn’t being abused.

In Michigan and other states, lawmakers want to make sure the rotating red, white and blue pole is used only at businesses where the barbers have had the proper training and put in the number of hours required to get a license. […]

The issue is important enough to state Sen. John Gleason that he has introduced legislation that makes it clear only licensed barber shops should have the right to display a barber pole.

I am SO glad that we don’t have any, like, actual problems in Michigan that need to be addressed. I guess when you’re in the minority like Gleason is, the only choice you have is to occupy yourself with legislation like this.

What a ridiculous piece of work this is!!  We have way bigger problems in this state than to have a publically paid, elected representative wasting time and effort on this ridiculousness!!

This looks like another Tea Party attempt to muddy the waters and frustrate the public with goverment so they not vote. Why are these same people sending our troops to fight and die to give people in other countrys voting rights in those countrys and taking away (E.F.M.’s) or making it harder to vote in Michigan and the U.S.A.

    • It’s a Democrat, not a Teapublican.

It’s a jerk no matter WHO he is!  Not qualified to hold a public office when this malarkey is being dithered over.

  • Eh, forget jobs! Barber poles are the REAL issue here!
