Michigan state Rep. Dave Agema wants you to be afraid of Sharia law.

by

I got an email a couple of days ago from the Tea Party of West Michigan. This is the group with the comical and never-correct grammatical error at the top of every page of their website. The email, true to form, was hard to parse:

“Come join me at Dave Agema is speaking on Sharia law and other topics. on Tea Party of West Michigan”

Dave Agema is serious about this. He actually wants people to be afraid that Sharia law threatens Michiganders.

“The people who are angry about this bill obviously have ulterior motives,” says Agema, who is considering a run for Congress after he is term-limited next year.

The greatest ulterior motive, Agema says, is a campaign by Muslims to impose “Sharia Law” in American courts.

These guys are amazing. They spend inordinate amounts of time nearly worshiping the U.S. Constitution yet you sometimes have to wonder if they have ever actually read it. Here’s part of Article VI that Rep. Agema may wish to consult:

This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.

Even semi-literate members of the Tea Party of West Michigan should be able to understand that.

P.S. There’s a great takedown of Agema and his idiotic position on the non-existent threat of Sharia law HERE.

P.P.S. If you want to go listen to Agema spew his nonsense about Sharia law this week, the event details are below. It’s just northwest of Grand Rapids in Walker, MI.
