Michele Bachmann thinks Americans are afraid of (Russian) ghosts – the tea party worship of ignorance

by

Michele Bachmann apparently does not realize there actually is no such thing as the Soviet Union any more. She thinks Americans are afraid of it, though.

I would say it’s a unified message. It really is about jobs and the economy. That doesn’t mean people haven’t [sic] forgotten about protecting life and marriage and the sanctity of the family. People are very concerned about that as well. But what people recognize is that there’s a fear that the United States is in an unstoppable decline. They see the rise of China, the rise of India, the rise of the Soviet Union and our loss militarily going forward. And especially with this very bad debt ceiling bill, what we have done is given a favor to President Obama and the first thing he’ll whack is five hundred billion out of the military defense at a time when we’re fighting three wars. People recognize that.

You know, this is the type of mistake that her tea party followers either won’t even recognize because they believe there is still a Soviet Union or, more pathetically, they actually VALUE stupidity.

Let me give you a classic example. In Michigan, one of the more active tea party groups is the Tea Party of West Michigan.

Have a look at the banner at the top of their website:

Notice anything wrong there? Look at the slogan: “Influence policy, effect elections, protect the Constitution”

Unfortunately for them, the correct word in this phrase would be “AFFECT”, not “EFFECT”. It’s not just a mistake on their front page either — it’s on every single page. Some of the pages even have different banners but the mistake is on all of them. Here’s the banner at the top of the page of one of the more active members:

A group of people that wallows in their ignorance, has no need for intelligence, eloquence or articulate expression is making huge inroads in running our country. Do we really want people AFFECTING elections that can’t even write the phrase properly? But, hey, I guess that is just me being elitist, eh?

This is Idiocracy happening right in front of our very eyes. And Michele Bachmann is one of the people leading the way.
