MoveOn.org hosting two Michigan “Invest in America Speak Out” events Thursday

by

This Thursday, February 24, 2011, MoveOn.org is holding two “Invest in America Speak Out” events in Michigan (and others across the country.)

Here’s the event description:

The president announces his budget on February 14, and already, Republicans—and some Democrats—are campaigning to cut billions in funding from health care, education, and science programs. Cuts to our economic lifelines won’t do anything to turn the economy around—but they’ll definitely hurt the Other 98% of us barely getting through the worst recession since the Great Depression.

When Congress comes home during the next congressional recess, we need to show them what’s at stake for our communities if critical social programs are gutted. So, on Thursday, February 24, we’re organizing “Invest in America” speak-outs at congressional offices nationwide to share our stories of how the broken economy is hurting our communities. We’ll speak out with our personal stories and tell Congress to support a budget that helps turn the economy around for the Other 98% of us.

There is one in Ypsilanti:

Rep. John Dingell’s District Office
12 noon – 1:00 p.m.
301 West Michigan
Ypsilanti, MI 48197

Hosted by M. Loretta Watson, Odile Hugonot Haber, Gregory Sullivan

We are gathering to demonstrate our opposition to the job killing Republican budget cuts, and speak out about how the economy is affecting us personally.
