More evidence of Stimulus Fail: Unemployment drops in Nov.

by

More evidence that the GOP meme that the stimulus has failed comes this morning.

From the Associated Press:

The unemployment rate fell to 10 percent in November as employers cut the smallest number of jobs since the recession began.

Clearly the Obama administration is failing the American people. Why?

Because the unemployment rate didn’t get capped at 8% like he said it would.

Mitt Romney: “The president indicated that his stimulus would hold unemployment to 8 percent, and that if he didn’t pass the stimulus of almost a trillion dollars it would go to 10 percent. Well, we went to 10 percent. So it was a bad miscalculation that’s going to cost the American people a lot.”

Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell: “We know the stimulus failed. It was sold to the Congress and to the American people with the suggestion that it would hold unemployment below 8 percent. We know unemployment is over 10 percent.”

House Minority Whip Eric Cantor: “Clearly, the stimulus bill has failed.”

House Minority Leader John Boehner: “These high unemployment rates are not coming down, the stimulus is not working.”

RNC Chair Michael Steele: “The stimulus was an economic experiment that failed Americans, just like the government-run health care experiment will fail Americans.”

Sarah Palin (via Twitter): “Baffling/nonsensical:Obama’s talk of yet another debt-ridden ‘stimulus’ pkg.Fight this 1, America, bc after last 1 unemployment rose, debt grew.”

GOP press release: “Obama’s First Stimulus Failed To Prevent Double-Digit Unemployment, Succeeded in Promoting Waste Fraud and Abuse.”

The votes are in and the GOP votes: FAIL!!!

Really? No, I mean REALLY???!

Let us review:

1. The CBO says the stimulus is working almost exactly as expected.
2. The housing market is starting to turn around.
3. Consumer confidence is edging up.
4. The recession appears to be over or very nearly so.
5. Key Economic Indicators have risen for seventh straight month.

Yup, that’s fail for sure.

Time to divert those remaining stimulus funds to the warring effort in Afghanistan, right Senator McConnell???

I’m just saying…
