Noun, Verb, Maverick

by

Although I know I shouldn’t be, I am flabbergasted that the media in this country seem to completely ignore the fact that, beyond making a little verbal flub here and there like anyone in the public spotlight is likely to do, Sarah Palin seems to have no interest in being grammatically correct and speaking in correct sentence. Here are but a few examples, just from last night’s debate:

“I think that the alarm has been heard, though, and there will be that greater oversight, again thanks to John McCain’s bipartisan efforts that he was so instrumental in bringing folks together over this past week, even suspending his own campaign to make sure he was putting excessive politics aside and putting the country first.”
Complete sentence? Uh…no.

In fact, 96 percent of his votes have been solely along party line, not having that proof for the American people to know that his commitment, too, is, you know, put the partisanship, put the special interests aside, and get down to getting business done for the people of America.
Ow! That kinda stings…

One thing that Americans do at this time, also, though, is let’s commit ourselves just every day American people, Joe Six Pack, hockey moms across the nation, I think we need to band together and say never again.
Hey! Stop it! That’s starting hurt!

I do take issue with some of the principle there with that redistribution of wealth principle that seems to be espoused by you.
Ahhhhh…the burn…

But here, again, there have — there have been so many changes in the conditions of our economy in just even these past weeks that there has been more and more revelation made aware now to Americans about the corruption and the greed on Wall Street.
Okay. This is a joke, right? Nobody running for the second highest office in the land speaks that poorly, right? Right?

Crickets.

It’s a toxic mess, really, on Main Street that’s affecting Wall Street.
Okay, that’s grammatically correct, I’ll admit, but I didn’t realize that it was the toxic mess on Main Street that is the problem…

I think that this is important to come back to, with that energy policy plan again that was voted for in ’05.
Stopstopstopstopstop…

We have got to encourage other nations also to come along with us with the impacts of climate change, what we can do about that.
I’m getting dumber the more I read…

But I also want to clarify, if there’s any kind of suggestion at all from my answer that I would be anything but tolerant of adults in America choosing their partners, choosing relationships that they deem best for themselves, you know, I am tolerant and I have a very diverse family and group of friends and even within that group you would see some who may not agree with me on this issue, some very dear friends who don’t agree with me on this issue. But in that tolerance also, no one would ever propose, not in a McCain-Palin administration, to do anything to prohibit, say, visitations in a hospital or contracts being signed, negotiated between parties.
Brains. Melting. Leaking. From Ears. Bad. Bad.

I don’t know how you can defend that position now but I know that you know especially with your son in the National Guard and I have great respect for your family also and the honor that you show our military.
Eeep.

Certainly, accounting for different conditions in that different country and conditions are certainly different.
Abidda abidda abidda…

Say it ain’t so, Joe, there you go again pointing backwards again. You preferenced your whole comment with the Bush administration. Now doggone it, let’s look ahead and tell Americans what we have to plan to do for them in the future.
That’s right, Joe. There you go ‘preferencing’ again…

I know education you are passionate about with your wife being a teacher for 30 years, and god bless her.
What? Is she Yoda now???

Okay, that’s enough. I can’t take anymore…

I’m just sayin’…
